Sophia Hutchins Once Revealed Caitlyn Jenner's Interview Encouraged Her to Complete Transition

Caitlyn Jenner and her partner Sophia Hutchins share a unique bond, one that got forged through inspiration which led to Sophia’s physical transformation and ultimately her relationship with Caitlyn.

Now proudly going by the name Sophia, people still referred to her as Scott in 2016, before leaving Pepperdine University for a semester to focus on her transition. Although she still preferred the use of male pronouns at the time, she made it clear that her return for the fall semester in 2017 would include significant changes.

Eighteen years old at the time, Sophia found inspiration to complete her physical transformation after she saw a “20/20” interview Diane Sawyer had with Caitlyn Jenner, during which she revealed to the world that she’s “a woman.”

“[Jenner’s interview] made it so much more real for [him], like normal and successful people do this and people are OK when they do it,” Sophia said.

Sophia’s time at Pepperdine also allowed her the freedom to come to terms with herself as she told the school newspaper at the time:

"I've always had the question of, 'Do I want to transition from male to female?' I never thought a lot about doing it until I got into college because I was able to break away from my family and started to establish my own identity. College gave me the time to deal with a lot of issues that had always been there."

The finance graduate then started working alongside Caitlyn on several LGBTQ causes and also helps Caitlyn manage her businesses.

The pair became inseparable, and in 2018, Sophia moved into Caitlyn’s $3.5 million Malibu mansion. They often go on dinner dates and celebrated Valentine’s Day together in 2019.

Although they have a 46 year age difference, it doesn’t bother them as Sophia said during an interview, “I don’t see age as a factor in our relationship. We are two souls that are a fantastic match for one another.”

Their feelings for each other also became more evident on Sophia’s 23rd birthday when she referred to Caitlyn as her “loving partner” in a social media post.

But they define their relationship on their terms as Sophia told Jim Breslo on “The Hidden Truth” in October 2018, "I wouldn't describe it as a romantic relationship. I would describe our relationship as we're partners, we're business partners, I'm the executive director of her foundation."

Sophia’s relationship with Caitlyn has helped her mature as a person as she added, "She challenges me in so many ways. It has allowed me to grow in so many ways and I hope I challenge her to grow and I think because we share so many of the same passions and views, it's just a great match, a great partnership."

During an interview in May 2019, Khloe Kardashian spoke about Caitlyn Jenner and Sophia's relationship. She called the much younger Sophia “really sweet” while she elaborated on the strife between Caitlyn and the Kardashians.
