David Letterman Reacts to Alex Trebek’s Health Update and the Power of ‘Positive Thought’
Former late-night talk show host, David Letterman has voiced his opinions about Alex Trebek’s news of his cancer’s near-remission.
On Wednesday, May 30, “TMZ” had Letterman stating his views concerning the joyful news of his fellow TV host star, Alex Trebek’s return to good health. While signing a few autographs as fans clamored around him, the “TMZ” cameramen disclosed that Trebek's tumors have shrunk by about 50 percent since he started treatment.
Letterman hurriedly responded, saying, "That's great," and even went on to confirm that he does believe in "the power of positive thought.” Asides being in similar positions in the entertainment industry, Letterman’s opinion is quite important because he was once in a near-fatal situation like Trebek’s.
The 72-year-old once had to undergo an emergency heart surgery and it, thankfully, came out with excellent results. It almost seemed like a miracle because Letterman made a full recovery at the time even though the surgery had been a “quintuple” heart bypass surgery.
Since Letterman has asserted Trebek’s opinions about staying positive at such a time, fans have felt more hopeful that Trebek will indeed make a recovery and get back on the screen.
The famous “Jeopardy!” host gained widespread attention after announcing earlier this year that doctors diagnosed him with stage IV pancreatic cancer. Given how deadly the disease is, it elicited a lot of well-wishes from his massive fan following as well as fellow celebrities.
It was very heartwarming when the father of two disclosed that the well-wishes have encouraged him to stay positive and have, therefore played an essential role in his recovery.
In a recent interview with “People,” the popular game show host shared the fantastic news that his tumors have begun to shrink.
“It’s kind of mind-boggling, the doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent,” he excitedly said.
It was also during the interview that Trebek showed great appreciation for his devoted fans for being so supportive ever since he revealed his failing health.
“I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers, I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo, and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this.” – Trebek
Seeing how the support won't end anytime soon, it looks like Alex Trebek will keep his promise to return for a season renewal of “Jeopardy!” That alone is enough encouragement to cheer on his forlorn fans who want nothing more than to have him back on screen.
