Moms & Adult Daughters Share Their Too-Close Relationships in a New TLC Show Called 'sMothered'
TLC's new show will showcase bizarre relationships that go way beyond the typical mother-daughter dynamics we're used to. Shared bath water anyone?
In a preview for the upcoming show "sMothered," fans get a sneak peek at four mother-daughter duos who have taken their close relationships to the next level.
All halves of the pairs are at first happy with their arrangement, but when it begins to take a toll on partners and other family members, things get a little tricky. The preview clip is found below.
Dawn and Cher once appeared on MTV's "My Super Sweet 16" and are two peas in a pod. They talk, dress, and behave the same as best they can. They even both married Jewish doctors around the same age.
However, Cher is now preparing to settle down and have a family of her own, and the constant presence of her mother is starting to get in the way of her new independent life.
Kathy and Cristina see each other three times a day every single day. In the preview, Christina's sister said the two are "obsessed" with each other.
Things get tense when mom Kathy hires a private investigator to keep track of Christina in the little time that they're actually not together. Could Kathy finally be stepping on Christina's toes?
Sandra and Mariah are the party-loving duo of the bunch. They've both gotten plastic surgery and flaunt it by constantly enjoying nightlife and clubs with each other.
However, Mariah gets frustrated by something her mother does at her 21st birthday celebration. Is there finally a line that Mariah won't let her mother cross?
Sunhe and Angelica are the final mother-daughter pair who seem to have little to no boundaries in their relationship. The two not only live together and share the same bed, but they sometimes share the same bath water.
Yet when Angelica's boyfriend of two years prepares to take their relationship to the next step, mom Sunhe gets in the way of her daughter's love life — as if going out on dates with them wasn't intrusive enough.
The pair did an interview with the New York Post recently and defended their closeness. “People want to find something wrong in a relationship when they don’t understand it,” Angelica said.
The 30-year-old said there was nothing wrong with their attachment to each other. Meanwhile, the video showed how Sunhe felt even more strongly when she described her daughter as "the love of my life."
"I could be without a man if I have her. I’d be completely happy just with Angelica with me. If I could find a man version of Angelica, I could marry them in a heartbeat.”
The show will premiere this Sunday, June 9 at 10/9 central on TLC. The network has not yet listed the number of episodes as they tend to gauge fan reaction before deciding whether or not they continue airing new shows.
Last year, the network's series "OutDaughtered" returned with a bang when the Busbys prepared a birthday bash for their six daughters. Opting for the theme, "Don't be a party pooper," they used a strange picture to headline the party.
Danielle went with a poop emoji to represent her daughter Blayke's love of the funny brown picture as well as the fact that the quintuplets had just been potty-trained.
While "OutDaughtered" is on its third season, the fate of "sMothered" remains to be seen. Tune in and see how these ladies sort out their growing pains as they try to keep their tight bonds intact.
