Geto Boys' Bushwick Bill Dies at 52 from Pancreatic Cancer

Geto Boys' Bushwick Bill has passed away after fighting for his life against cancer. The most recent update about his condition came just hours after his own son shared that his dad was still alive and fighting for his life.

Representatives of Bushwick Bill have now confirmed that the rapper has passed away due to cancer. Bill's personal publicist, Dawn P, first revealed that while he was in critical condition, fighting for his life. His son also assured his fans and supporters that he was still alive amid speculations by different media outlets that he passed away. However, now, Dawn P confirms that he has succumbed to his illness and is now resting in peace.

Pete Marrero, his Dallas-based business manager, said that is not expected to recover from his illness, and his family just tried to cherish their last few moments with him here on Earth.

Halted Plans this 2019

In February 2019, Bushwick Bill was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which halted his agenda of going on a reunion tour with the Geto Boys.

Bushwick Bill, known for his Houston-based rap group Geto Boys, is actually known as Richard Shaw in real life. He was born in Jamaica before moving to America to pursue his career. Before being diagnosed with his illness, he planned to go on tour. Unfortunately for him, this plan was stopped as he ended up having to stay in the hospital for treatment.

He fought for his life

Just a couple of hours before he was pronounced dead, his son defended him from media outlets that stated he was dead before he even passed away. While his chances were slim, they were still holding on to the bit of faith they had and made the most out of their time together.

On his Instagram a couple of hours before his death, his son decided to slam all the people who announced his death before he passed, saying that everything was inaccurately posted.

"Contrary to what has been prematurely, insensitively, and inaccurately posted/reported - my dad is NOT dead, he's still alive and fighting for his life. He needs your continued prayers and support."

Capitalizing the situation

His son added that people have been quick to capitalize over their situation, which is not at all entertaining for them, as they were trying to keep their dad alive.

"Certain people have been quick to write him off as dead so they can capitalize off it, and it's messed up because y'all really think these people care about him. There is no Geto Boys without Bushwick Bill. [...] On behalf of the family we're requesting privacy until furhter notice."

Now that the news is true that Bushwick Bill has passed away, his family ultimately requested privacy during these moments, so that they may focus on grieving the loss of their loved one.
