Whoopi Goldberg Upsets Bella Thorne after Calling Her out for Creating and Releasing Nude Photos
Goldberg’s views on the issue of the actress and model releasing her nude photos herself after a hacker threatened to publish them made Thorne burst into tears as she talked back in social media.
After “The View” co-hosts 63-year-old Whoopi Goldberg and 76-year-old discussed the controversy surrounding 21-years-old Bella Thorne’s nude photos made public, the young actress and model criticized Goldberg for blaming her for it.
THORNE RESPONDS TO GOLDBERG
On June 18, Thorne took to social media to share a video of herself crying as she shames Goldberg for blaming celebrity victims of invasion of privacy by hackers, defending every women’s right to express herself without others feeling entitled to disrespect them.
The video was posted on Thorne’s Instagram Stories and shared on Twitter by at least one fan for it to remain visible following the 24 hours the feature allows the content to be available.
The nude photos scandal broke off on June 15, when, in an attempt to prove to a hacker that tried to blackmail her over the images he stole from her that he didn’t have the power he thought he had over her, Thorne shared the images herself.
"I'm not going to lie, I want to say I feel pretty disgusting, Whoopi, knowing everyone's seen my [expletive],” a visibly affected Thorne said on the video.
“And I just want to say that me watching this interview made me feel really bad about myself and I hope you're happy. I really do,” the star continued with tears in her eyes.
“I can only imagine all the kids who have their [photos] released and then they commit suicide. So, you're so crazy for thinking such terrible things on such an awful situation," Thorne said to Goldberg.
"Shame on you, Whoopi. Shame on you and shame on you for putting that public opinion just out there like that for every young girl to think that they're disgusting for even taking a photo like that," the “Famous in Love” star went on.
GOLDBERG’S VIEWS
Thorne’s outrage comes after Goldberg said Thorne should have thought about how risky it was for someone young, beautiful, and famous such as her to take and share nude pictures online.
"If you're famous, I don't care how old you are. You don't take nude pictures of yourself," Goldberg said in the June 17 episode of “The View.”
"When they are hacking you, they are hacking all of your stuff. So whether it's one picture or a million pictures, once you take that picture, it goes into the cloud and it's available to any hacker who wants it and if you don't know that in 2019, that is an issue,” the “Sister Act” actress expressed.
The nude photos scandal broke off on June 15, when, in an attempt to prove to a hacker that tried to blackmail her over the images he stole from her that he didn’t have the power he thought he had over her, Thorne shared the images herself.
“[Expletive] u and the power u think you have over me. I’m gonna write about this in my next book,” Thorne captioned the screenshots of the hacker’s messages to her containing the leaked images.
“I can sleep tonight better knowing I took my power back. U can’t control my life, u never will,” she added in a statement.
STARS STEP OUT IN SUPPORT OF THORNE
Goldberg’s views on this issue have proven to be most unpopular, as following Thorne’s call out to the co-host several celebrities showed their support to Thorne and stood by her courageous position.
“Just a reminder that you are strong and courageous and beautiful inside and out,” Thorne’s former co-star Zendaya wrote on a message shared by Thorne on Instagram.
Actress Lucy Hale also showed support to Thorne after her decision of sharing the pictures herself.
“Good for you baby girl. I’m so proud of you for speaking up. This breaks my heart. But you’re making a difference for other girls and women!” the 30-year-old wrote.
Thorne thanked the displays of support, stating that “All u need is support to be brave.”
