Joke: A Couple of Tightwads Start an Argument about a Ten Dollar Flight
We've all been taught the basics of saving our nickels and dimes, but what's the point of saving if you're not going to spend it on something enjoyable?
Sue and Bob, a pair of tightwads living in the mid-west had been married for many years. Bob had always wanted to go flying, ever since he was a young boy.
The desire deepened each time a barnstormer flew into town and offered rides for ten bucks. Bob would ask, and Sue would say, "No way, ten dollars is ten dollars."
The years went by and Bob never got to fly. Eventually, Bob figured he didn't have much longer left on Earth and seeing the barnstormer this year might be his last.
He got Sue to come out to the show, explaining that it's free to watch so they could at least watch. And once he got there, the feeling of wanting to fly started to overwhelm him.
Sue and Bob started an argument.
The pilot, between flights, overheard their argument, and finally came over and said,
"I'll tell you what. I'll take you up flying, and if you don't say a word; the ride is on me, but if you make one sound, you pay me ten dollars.
Sue agreed and off they flew. The pilot did as many rolls and dives as he could – heading to the ground as fast as the plane could go and then pulling out of the dive at the very last second.
Nobody said a peep in the back seat. Not a word. Finally, he admitted defeat and returned to the airport.
The pilot said to his passengers without turning around, "I'm really surprised you didn't say anything."
And Bob replied,
"Well, I almost said something when Sue fell out, but ten dollars is ten dollars."
To be fair, I'm not sure I would have said anything either, would you have? Share this joke with your friends and give them a laugh.
In 2018, Dottie Sambiagio from Michigan took the plunge herself when she chose to skydive for her birthday.
The footage that was uploaded to YouTube shows the elderly woman smiling broadly before and after making the death-defying jump.
Sambiago admitted that she had been thinking about jumping for a long time and was not particularly nervous about it.
Her inspiration had come from former president George H. W. Bush who had jumped out of an airplane for his 90th. Sambiago had then decided that her own time had come too. What a gal!
