James Van Der Beek Is a Proud Dad of 5 Beautiful Kids - Meet All of Them

“Dawson’s Creek” star, James Van Der Beek, shares five adorable children with Kimberly Brook and is proud of them all, as seen in his many social media posts.

In 2010, “Dawson’s Creek” star James Van Der Beek became a father and has loved playing that role since. Today, he is a proud dad to five children -- Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, and Gwendolyn, whom he shares with Kimberly Brook.

“I think fatherhood changes you from the inside out,” Van Der Beek shared. “It’s not this thing where you think, ‘Oh, I have to be responsible, I have to take more on.’ You just want to, almost automatically.”

OLIVIA VAN DER BEEK

Olivia is the eldest among the Van Der Beek children. Being the first child of the “Varsity Blues” actor and his wife, she taught them much about parenthood. Last year, her proud father posted a sweet photo lifting his daughter in the air.

“Seven years into #parenthood, I’m realizing more and more that all that really matters are the moments of connection. So when they happen, give yourself permission to wipe everything off the table and be 100% fully present for them,” he wrote.

JOSHUA VAN DER BEEK

The actor and producer had their second child about two years after having their daughter. In 2012, Joshua, their first son, was born. During an interview with Us Weekly Opens a New Window, Van Der Beek revealed that he “absolutely” loves the role of a dad.

“I’m just in love,” he said. “You don’t realize it until it actually happens and then it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s what they were talking about.”

ANNABEL LEAH VAN DER BEEK

The couples’ third child, Annabel Leah, came in 2014, which only added much fun and love to the growing Van Der Beek family. Having so many kids meant being confused with their baby photos, which the patriarch admitted on his recent post.

“Came across this pic today. If I’m being completely honest… I have no idea which kid this is. But reasonably sure it’s mine,” he joked.

EMILIA VAN DER BEEK

Elimia, 5, was welcomed by the Van Der Beek’s in 2017. On her first birthday, her father dedicated a sweet greeting for her on Instagram, along with an adorable photo of the baby.

“One year ago today, I got to meet this sweet, determined, magical little soul. Just when I thought nobody could follow my other girls... along came Emilia,” he penned.

GWENDOLYN VAN DER BEEK

On June 15, 2018, Gwendolyn, the youngest of the Van Der Beeks, was welcomed by her family. Unlike her sister Olivia, Gwendolyn was born at home with a doctor and a midwife to assist.

“Every child awakens a different energy in you, and this one has been bringing up the truth ever since we found out she was on her way,” Van Der Beek said on the day of her birth.

Kimberly, although blessed with many children, candidly revealed with her husband about suffering three miscarriages throughout their marriage. Their five kids are their most prized blessings.

Before Van Der Beek assumed the role of a father, he was famous for his character, Dawson Leery, in the hit show “Dawson’s Creek,” which ran from 1998 to 2003. In March of last year, the cast gathered for the 20th anniversary.

Although Van Der Beek’s on-screen mom was not invited to the get-together, he made sure to have a small reunion with her, which she was thrilled about. He documented their meeting and posted it on social media.
