Meghan McCain Celebrates Little Sister Bridget's Birthday with Sweet Message
Meghan McCain shared kind words for her sister, Bridget on her birthday, months after she lauded the youngest McCain for defending their father.
Meghan McCain has been making waves as an outspoken host of “The View.” But along with her opinions about controversial issues, she also speaks in highly of her family, including her youngest sister, Bridget McCain.
MEGHAN PRAISED HER WHEN SHE DEFENDED THEIR FATHER
If you recall, Meghan praised Bridget when the low-profile youngest daughter of the late John McCain defended her father from President Donald Trump’s attacks after his death. In March, in response to Trump’s claims he wasn't a fan of the late senator, among other things, Bridget sent out a series of tweets slamming the President for his hurtful comments.
“Everyone doesn’t have to agree with my dad or like him, but I do ask you to be decent and respectful. If you can’t do those two things, be mindful. We only said goodbye to him almost 7 months ago.”
Bridget continued in a separate tweet,
“Even if you were invited to my dad’s funeral, you would have only wanted to be there for the credit and not for any condolences. Unfortunately, you could not be counted on to be courteous, as you are a child in the most important role the world knows.”
In her show, Meghan admired her sister for voicing out despite choosing to live a private life.
“I think it’s very brave of her,” she told her co-hosts. “She’s very young and she does not speak publicly.”
Back in 2000, a 9-year-old Bridget was used as a pawn against her father’s campaign.
SHE IS THE YOUNGEST OF SEVEN MCCAIN SIBLINGS
Bridget is the youngest of seven children of the late senator McCain. During his first marriage to Carol Shepp, McCain adopted her sons, Doug and Andrew before they had their daughter, Sidney.
When he married his second wife, Cindy Hensley, they had Meghan, Jack and Jimmy. They adopted Bridget as their seventh child during a humanitarian trip to Bangladesh.
SHE WAS ONCE USED TO SMEAR HER FATHER'S CAMPAIGN
Back in 2000, a 9-year-old Bridget was used as a pawn against her father’s campaign. He was then vying for the presidential nomination against George W. Bush. People accused him of siring an illegitimate black child. McCain tried to shield Bridget from the public, as he would often do with all his children.
HER SISTER ADORES HER
Despite the negative attention, being the youngest in the family, Bridget is loved by her siblings, especially Meghan. In fact, the 34-year-old mother recently paid tribute to her sis with a sweet message on her birthday.
To accompany a photo of the two of them, Meghan wrote, “Happy happy happy Birthday to my sister Bridget @bridgyyyyboo - I love you so much. You are all that is kind and beautiful in this world!”
The sweet gesture proved what kind of a relationship the sisters have. Their photo also speaks volumes of their closeness. Their father must be beaming with pride watching his two girls from wherever he is.
