The incident occurred on Saturday, August 2, around 6:30 a.m. CST when the black GMC Terrain she was driving collided with a parked Ford Econoline near the Privada de Samaniego.
Yanin was rushed to Christus Muguerza del Parque Hospital for her injuries, but died there on Monday afternoon.
The State Public Security Secretariat confirmed that the State Attorney General's Office's Damage and Injury Department has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Authorities are considering speeding or distracted driving as possible factors.

Born in Chihuahua in 1987, Yanin was part of the fourth season of "MasterChef México" in 2018, where she finished in sixth place. Her performance earned her a spot on the special "MasterChef: La Revancha (The Rematch)" edition in 2019, where she placed 11th and had some memorable clashes with other contestants, like Carmen Miranda.

On August 4, Yanin's brother, Raúl Campos, posted the following message on Facebook to inform family and friends of her passing:
"To family and friends. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my sister, Yanin Campos. The viewing will be held at Hernández Funeral Home starting today at 12:00 PM. All who would like to say their final goodbyes and join us are welcome."
Dozens of people responded to Raúl's post, offering their condolences and support.
"Raúl, you might not remember me, but from the bottom of my heart, I want to tell you how incredibly sorry I am. I had some wonderful years with your sister, and I tried to be a great friend to her. I don't know if I succeeded, but I want to believe I did. What I do know is that her faith was always a part of her, and I'm sure she's in that place we once fantasized about being," one person wrote.

Yanin's last Instagram post was uploaded on April 19, 2023. The picture shows her posing next to a red telephone booth in London with the caption, "Taking a stroll ❤️."
