Racial profiling is still happening, and this time it happened to a celebrity.

“It happens to us everywhere, at any time, for any reason. I can’t let this go…. Now, we can add going to the doctor or buying a sandwich while black to the list of things we cannot do.” Dennis McKinley

FALSELY ACCUSED OF STEALING

McKinley, who was at Emory Healthcare Center for a medical appointment, stepped into a restaurant for a sandwich, and ended up handcuffed, accused of stealing the food he had just paid for.

A video shot by an onlooker which McKinley shared on Instagram, shows him sitting handcuffed in a chair while a female Police Officer stands over him haranguing him.

"I had a receipt which could have easily ended her inquiry. There was a cashier that could have easily verified that I paid for everything I had. There were a number of easy resolutions that could have deescalated the unnecessary racial profiling and my detention by this officer,” McKinley said.

McKinley described the Emory Police Department's behavior as shameful, and frightening.

POLICE OFFICER PUT HER HANDS ON HER WEAPON

McKinley revealed that the officer put her hands on her weapon, and handcuffed him while he kept telling her that he had a receipt, and to ask the cashier.

“(She) chose aggression over common sense. She put her hands on her weapon, she put her hands on me, she publicly humiliated me, falsely and wrongfully accused me of stealing a sandwich and placed me in handcuffs so tight that she caused injuries to both of my wrists,” he said.

DENNIS MCKINLEY'S WRISTS WERE INJURED

McKinley shared a series of photos of receipt of the food he paid for, and the weals left on his wrists by the too-tight handcuffs.

The Emory Police Department released a statement:

“An Emory Police Department officer detained an individual suspected of not paying for an item. Once the officer learned the individual had purchased it, he was released.”

And that's all, folks.

DENNIS MCKINLEY IS DETERMINED TO FIGHT BACK

McKinley has said in no uncertain terms that he is not letting the incident go, revealing that once the officer found out that he had paid for his food, she not only did not apologize - she blamed him for the entire situation.

McKinley has hired lawyer Mike Sterling to represent him, Sterling is married to RHOA’s Eva Marcille.

Sterling commented: “If no one objects or fights back, the wrongs will last forever.”

McKinley’s representative released a statement in which he expressed the pain and anguish of being racially profiled, and being wrongly accused simply because of the way he looked.

"They don’t understand what it’s like to be viewed as a criminal for no reason at all, except how you look; they don’t understand what it’s like to falsely accused of something you did not do; publicly humiliated for no reason at all; handcuffed like a criminal; detained without provocation; and completely frightened to death that you could be shot by an overly aggressive police officer over a $4 sandwich."

McKinley described the Emory Police Department's behavior as shameful, and frightening.

What is trully frightening is that even going out for a sandwich can lead to this kind of violent incident that could easily have ended in yet another shooting of a black man by a Police Officer.
