On Breaking Records

Of course, Mariah had to congratulate Lil Nas for this accomplishment, showing an edited photo of her passing a torch down to the rapper.

"@mariahcarey: Sending love & congrats to @lilnasx on breaking one of the longest running records in music history! We've been blessed to hold this record with a song that means a great deal to @BoyzIIMenand myself and has touched so many. Keep living your best life!"

Mariah's remarks had people commending her for being such a class act, as she even provided Lil Nas X with advice as he is currently just starting out with his career.

" One Sweet Day will always hold a special place in my heart and I want to thank anyone who's ever told me how this song has affected them and their loved ones."

On Breaking Stereotypes

Indeed, breaking records and topping charts is such a feat for Lil Nas X, but that's not the only things he's been breaking.

The artist has been breaking stereotypes, too, as he recently came out as gay. While he acknowledged that coming out may change the way people look at him, it doesn't matter to him at all.

"Some of y'all already know, some of y'all don't care, some of y'all not gonna [support me] no more, but before this month ends, I want y'all to listen closely to c7osure."

This makes Lil Nas X one of the few black artists that openly shared about their sexuality.
