Meet Donnie Wahlberg's Children From Both His Old and New Relationships
Donnie Wahlberg is not the same boy band member from the 90s. He's been around the block and more twice as a husband, and now as a family man, and he's dipped his feet into several parts of the entertainment industry.
Back in the day, Donnie joined four other boys who formed part of the pop group called Kids on the Block. The group were a hit, reportedly selling over 70 million records worldwide.
Donnie Wahlberg's parents and famous sibling
Donnie, 49, was born on August 3, 1969, in Boston, Massachusetts to Donald Edmond Wahlberg Sr. and Alma Donnelly Wahlberg. His father served in the Korean War before going home to work as a school bus driver and insurance marketer.
Alma worked as a bank teller after her divorce from Donald. She also went into nursing assistance before eventually working as a hostess at her sons' restaurant, Wahlburgers.
Alma and Donald had nine children before their split. Not one to follow in his parents' footsteps, Donnie only has two kids of his own. He met his first wife, Kimberly Fey, through his slightly more famous younger brother, Mark Wahlberg.
His first wife and firstborn son
The two began dating publicly in 1991, but it took eight years for them to tie the knot. The marriage lasted from 1999 until 2010. On March 4, 1993, Fey gave birth to her first son, Xavier Alexander Wahlberg.
Born in March, Xavier lived a life of privacy and a sort of anonymity — he stays away from social media for unknown reasons. His life is so under wraps that we don't know what school he went to or much about his past or current relationships.
However, the 26-year-old reportedly started a heavy metal band in 2008 and went on the road for a while. He refused any help from his father when offered, so we know he's the independent type who doesn't want to use his father's money or fame to succeed in life.
His second son who appeared on reality tv
Xavier's younger brother is Elijah Hendrix Wahlberg, born on August 20, 2001 to Fey. Like his older brother, Elijah has remained hidden from the spotlight through most of his life, but with the advent of reality television, fans saw more of him than they might have expected.
In the midst of Fey and Donnie's split, they battled for custody of Elijah and Fey won. Thankfully, the boy still got to spend time with his son, and fans would get a closer look into their interactions via the reality show "Donnie Loves Jenny," which first aired in 2014.
His second wife and third son
Jenny McCarthy, 46, entered Donnie's life in 2013 when she interviewed him on her radio talk show. McCarthy is an established actress, tv personality, comedian, author, and emcee.
Two possibly controversial things about her are her Playboy magazine modeling days and the fact that she advocates against vaccinations as part of her autism awareness campaign. McCarthy picked up the cause after her son, Evan, was diagnosed with the disorder.
She and Donnie would get married just over a year after they first met, in August 2014. Their show, "Donnie Loves Jenny," came into fruition just months later in January 2015. Along with a second marriage, Donnie got Evan Asher as part of the package and became a stepfather.
Donnie is a proud father of all his kids
McCarthy shares 17-year-old Evan with her ex-husband John Asher. Donnie and McCarthy's reality show lasted for three seasons until 2016 when it ended. However, we've been able to keep up with the family on social media.
Earlier this year, the "Blue Bloods" actor posted two sweet photos as he wished men around the world a Happy Father's day and called fatherhood "the most important responsibility that a man will ever have in his lifetime." The first photo showed him with Elijah and Xavier when they were younger.
The other showed a more recent picture of Donnie as he fixed stepson Evan's tie. The two smiled at each other, clearly showing how well the boy gets along with his stepdad. McCarthy also gave voice to the success of her blended family.
Back in 2017, she spoke to ET about the possibility of having more kids with her husband. McCarthy admitted that she would have wanted more children if perhaps she were younger. "We both wish if there was more years in the clock that [having kids] could happen. But, you know what?"
She continued: "We’ve realized we both have sons that are the same age [and] they both fell in love with each other. They’re teenagers, so they might not admit it, but they do love each other." Looks like the family of five is pretty happy with what they have together.
