"I confronted my middle child and we got into a huge fight," the father-of-three wrote. "He claimed that being a father would ruin his plans for life but I told him that he had to take responsibility for his own actions and that his child deserved to have a father in her life."

He added, "This went on for a while when I told him that if he didn't think his own child deserved a father then he didn't deserve a father himself and I told him that he had to leave the house. He is 22 years old and has a decent job and plenty of friends so I wasn't too worried about him."

Although the father felt like he has made the right decision, he still felt terrible.

"I chose to end my relationship with my son, which hurts so much, since I have always felt closest with him throughout his life," he wrote.

Since he shared his predicament on Reddit, he has gotten numerous remarks from other users.

"It sounds like retribution the way you described it," one of the commenters wrote.

"It's one thing if his son doesn't want to be responsible for the child physically. I think people should be allowed to do that. Especially if he asked the mother to terminate and she didn't. But he absolutely needs to be financially responsible for the child. And not mooching off his own dad living rent free," added another user.

"The only thing I think he did wrong is not make it clear that he would reopen the door of a relationship if the son fixes his ways," another user commented.

Someone else wrote, "Your son chose to be selfish with his actions instead of doing the best for his daughter and her future."

Many users also commented on his post, with one saying that he has every right to turn her down.
