"I've always felt a little bit different, and now I know why," Hopie said in the video. "I took a 23andMe test and I got the results I never knew I needed. Turns out this is my dad — not the one everyone knows — and his name is B.C."

After finding him on social media, she messaged him on Facebook. Within 24 hours, B.C. arrived at her doorstep to hug her and meet her in person. Hopie explained that they have grown close over the past six months. "It's so strange because we are so much alike," she said.

"I never experienced unconditional love like that before," Hopie shared. "There is so much more love to my story than I ever thought there was."

She also revealed that she recently reconnected with her mother, "She's freaking awesome, and learned just how much she loves me and how she wanna be a part of my life but never really could."

Hopie expressed gratitude for her newfound family and acknowledged that many people may have questions about her discovery. "I did too, and I still do," she admitted. "I'm just really grateful for all of this, and the new people in my life and the new family that loves me for who I am."

After Hopie revealed her biological father's identity and rekindled her relationship with her mother, Rory addressed this life-changing discovery in a lengthy blog post, titled, "a different dad." He shared how, on a quiet Thursday morning, he was in the kitchen when his phone rang—a rare call from Hopie.

"I can't tell you the last time she called me," Rory admitted. Having not seen his older daughters, Hopie and Heidi, in a year and barely spoken to them in over two years, he had often prayed for them to reach out. That morning, when Hopie's name appeared on his screen, it felt like an answer to prayer.

On the call, Hopie asked if they could meet at the cemetery where Joey, Rory's late wife, was buried. He agreed, unaware of what she wanted to discuss but grateful for the opportunity to see her. There, they sat on a bench beside Joey's wooden cross. For the first time in over two years, they had a real conversation.

Hopie started by mentioning that she and her sister Heidi had reconnected with their birth mother and had grown close over the past two years. She then shared the news that a DNA test confirmed she had a different father than Heidi and their younger sister, Indiana. Rory was caught off guard. He hadn't expected this revelation.

Hopie explained that her birth mom had told her about another man who could be her father, and the DNA test had confirmed it. She had kept the truth to herself for a while but could no longer do so. Before making her video public, she wanted Rory to hear it from her first.

He thanked Hopie for telling him, and then Hopie asked if he had ever suspected the truth. While Rory assured her that he hadn't known, he admitted it didn't entirely surprise him. He recalled coming home from military deployment in 1988, during a troubled period in his marriage, and being surprised when Hopie's mom became pregnant soon after.

He shared a memory from the day Hopie was born, how the doctor had told him she was actually overdue, contradicting the timeline of his return from overseas. At the time, he had confronted Hopie's mom about whether anything had happened while he was gone. She insisted Hopie was his, and he chose to believe her.

As the years passed, Rory never questioned it again. When Hopie was a baby, her mother took her to Florida, leaving Heidi with Rory. He pleaded to keep both daughters, but her mother refused. Months later, she called and said Rory could take Hopie back. From that moment on, he raised her as his own.

Rory also admitted to Hopie that, deep down, a part of him had always suspected the possibility. However, he reassured her that the DNA results and biological connection did not change the way he felt. "I love you as my daughter and I always will," Rory said in his blog.

Since Hopie shared her video publicly, Rory received messages from people asking if he was okay. He admitted feeling sadness, not for himself, but for Hopie, who had to process such a major revelation later in life. "Finding out that who you were, and also 'whose' you were, is not what you've been led to believe your whole life," he reflected.

Rory empathized with Hopie's mother, recognizing the difficulty of keeping this secret for years and believing she did the best she could. Despite everything, Rory emphasized that biology did not define his love for Hopie.

He reiterated, "My love for Hopie isn't based on us having the same blood running through our veins, I love her because she's my child, even if technically as the video she shared later that same day says, she's not."

Responding to Rory's blog post, Hopie took to Instagram, sharing a series of text posts that hinted at a growing strain in their relationship.

She called his actions "extremely disappointing" and explained that when she first told him the news, she had only one request—to be kind and not shame her mother. However, she felt he ignored that by publicly sharing private details about her mother's past.

Hopie also voiced frustration over how her personal life had become public due to Rory's platform. "I shared my story because I couldn't keep the secret all to myself anymore. I'm really not a public person, but because Rory is, my private life becomes content for his fans (who are often unkind online)," she added.

She also reflected on a painful past experience, revealing that when she came out to Rory as bisexual. "He was hateful and judgmental. Later, he convinced me to let him write about it in his book. I regret that. When his book came out, he had massive support and I had the opposite. More hate from his fans. The things he wrote in that chapter still hurt," she recalled.

Hopie shared an audio clip of him discussing "protecting" his baby "from sin." He also stated that his conservative Christian faith judged Hopie. According to Hopie, the baby he referred to is her younger sister, Indy.

As she processed everything, Hopie suggested that Rory had been distancing himself long before this revelation. "With everything going on right now, this clip made a lot of sense. He was already trying to keep me from Indy. It's like he was already trying to push me out of his life," she said.

Hopie Feek clarified that she never intended to harm anyone by sharing her story but felt the need to speak her truth. She indicated that she would not be addressing the matter further for now and asked for privacy.
