Kate & William Pay Tribute to Princess Diana as They Visit Child Cancer Patients in Pakistan
During the final days of the royal tour of Pakistan, Prince William and Kate Middleton met with young cancer patients at the same hospital Princess Diana visited almost 20 years ago.
The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in Lahore, is one of Pakistan's famous cancer research institutions. It is reported, Princess Diana visited the hospital twice during her trips to Pakistan, the Kensington Royal Instagram account, says:
"In 1996 and 1997 Diana, Princess of Wales visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, a state-of-the-art cancer facility located in the centre of Lahore."
"Over twenty years on, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit the children's ward at the hospital today to spend time with patients undergoing treatment, and speak to their families," the post concludes.
Following in Diana's footsteps, Prince William and Kate Middleton took a tour of the same hospital, on Thursday.
According to PEOPLE, the royal couple spent time touring the facility and played games with some of the children undergoing cancer treatment.
During a short tea party with seven-year-old Wafia Rehmani, who has a tumor on her kidney, she and Kate wore matching tiara's. The couple sipped imaginary tea as they discussed the young girl's aspiration to become a doctor.
The couple also met with five-year-old Muhammad Samir, who is being treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma, in the hospital's chemotherapy ward. William joined him in a fishing board game.
William and Kate were shown around the hospital by Dr. Aasim Yusuf. He is the same doctor who met with Diana during her visit at the hospital almost 20 years ago.
Dr. Yusuf says, he is honoured to meet the royal couple and is pleased that they have come to see his hospital.

Remembering the first time he met Diana for a tour of the hospital's facilities, he explains:
"We were all struck by how friendly she was. How she was able to put everyone at ease. We were all very nervous about what we should say and what she would ask and how we should address her."
"The minute she came into the room, she lit up the room obviously and also she was just so friendly and down to earth. You could tell that she was genuinely interested in the people she was meeting," he recalls.
While she was alive, the hospital was built in honor of Diana by former cricketer and current Prime minister, Imran Khan. He is family friend, who William and Kate took the time to visit during their time in Pakistan.
