It's Halloween! Candies are handy, and costumes are controversial. Bridal costume for kids on Halloween is making many flinches; however, Whoopi Goldberg isn't having any of that.

Whoopi raised the roof on Thursday's airing of "The View" when she said,

"It's a Halloween costume! What the hell? It's Halloween — leave the kids! It's one day of candy!"

The 63-year old actress neutralized the supposed argument that the costume was socially irresponsible by jokingly saying at some point as a kid they had all worn bridal wear when they were marrying Jesus.

To support this claim, an old picture of 7-year old Joy Behar was shown in her bridal getup carrying her baby cousin, as the audience laughed.

The debate on the appropriateness of bride costume for kids on Halloween was discussed because, in Australia, a Kmart outlet pulled down its line of kids bridal costume from the shelves.

This was as a result of petitions against the company that the costume was encouraging child marriage and sex trafficking, Daily News reported.

The controversy has generated mixed reactions from people even after Kmart's spokesman said:

The Golden Globe Award winner did not back down on her opinion even as her fellow co-host, Joy Behar, argued:

"They're programming you to get married and have children, You should have a choice in that."

Yahoo! reveals that the issue isn't only causing a buzz among hosts of "The View" but also on Twitter, where there are also divided opinions.

Some people think there is nothing wrong with a Kid in bridal costume, while others found it gross. Some believe there are more pressing issues to be discussed, and were indifferent about the topic.

@guelphgirlchris tweeted:

"It's every little girl's dream. How many of us pretended to be brides when we were young? Not a big deal at all,"

"Ahem, as a Dad of a 16-yr old, the #bride costume is as SCARY a trick as they come! lol"

@RhyannonMGD suggested:

"I think it is a bit creepy in todays day, I would have encouraged her to go as a princess. Save the wedding dress for flower girl"

The poll on whether parents should allow their kids to dress up like a bride on Halloween was in favor of Whoopi's position. As seen on Yahoo, 91% said it's not a big deal!, while 9% voted "No way!"
