Legend Advancing His Cause
The ceremony which took place in a Miami-Dade County courtroom aimed to show that it's possible for ex-felons to regain their voting rights despite new legislation stating they need to pay fees, fines, and restitutions first.
Legend felt the need to support efforts in allowing ex-felons to fully regain their place in society by giving them the right to vote for their leaders. The singer made sure to share his experiences in social media, hoping to raise more awareness of the issue.
"One year ago, Floridians voted to pass Amendment 4 to restore voting rights to individuals with felony convictions who have completed their sentences - the single largest expansion in voting rights since women's suffrage."
Taking Part in Something Historic
Helping the first set of individuals to be given the right to vote despite not having the financial ability to pay for the fees and fines required of them, John partnered up with Florida Rights Restoration to make it possible for the ex-inmates.
"Today, Miami-Dade County made history by setting up the first court sessions to restore voting rights to people who do not have the financial capability to pay their fees or fines. I am honored to have been on-the-ground in Miami today, working with [Florida Rights Restoration[ to help register these individuals to vote."
John Legend is living proof that it is possible to live life to the fullest without forgetting a social responsibility asked of him as an American and an influential individual.
Living Life to the Fullest
During Halloween night, he went to Universal Studios with his wife Chrissy Teigen, where he got up on stage after getting wine drunk and sang "All Of Me" to himself.
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen celebrated Halloween by heading to Universal Studios' Horror Nights, and it seems the singer had a little too much to drink as he got so tipsy that he hopped on-stage and gave other park-goers an impromptu concert.
It was clearly not his best performance, but Legend enjoyed himself to the fullest and that's what matters most.
