Idris Elba fans can look forward to seeing the actor in a cowboy getup as he gets set to star in a new Western on Netflix. Rapper Jay-Z is slated to co-produce the film.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Idris Elba will play a bad guy in the Netflix revenge drama, "The Harder They Fall" alongside fellow actor Jonathan Majors.

Elba and Jay-Z will work with other big names

Other big names include London's The Bullitts singer/ songwriter Jeymes Samuel, and none other than rapper Jay-Z himself. The legend will have a dual role in the film's production.

The film is Samuel's first directing gig. On the other hand, Jay-Z has several producer credits to his name including 2013's "The Great Gatsby" as executive producer.

The musical pair will work alongside James Lassiter and Lawrence Bender. They'll further collaborate to create original music for the soundtrack of the film.

What we know so far

The movie follows as Nat Love (played by Majors) learns that his parents' killer (played by Elba) is being released after two decades in prison. Love sets out to exact revenge with his gang of friends.

Elba will star in another Western drama called "Concrete Cowboys" which just began filming. However, fans can catch him in the film adaptation of "Cats" in theaters next month.

The 47-year-old made his Netflix debut in "Beasts of No Nation" back in 2015. This year, one of his biggest film features was in this summer's "Hobbs & Shaw."

Jay-Z's involvement in "The Harder They Fall" was actually announced back in July. However, fans will be happy to learn that a former People's Sexiest Man Alive has landed a role in the upcoming film.

Elba congratulated Legend on his new title

Of course, Elba's title was snagged from him last week when People announced that "The Voice" judge John Legend is this year's Sexiest Man Alive.

Elba responded to the news by praising Legend while poking fun at his title predecessor, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in a repost of Legend's tweet.

He wrote:

"My G Congratulations brother !!! You deserve it. DO NOT TELL @TheRock He still thinks he’s got the title, I didn’t have the heart to tell him when I took it."

In turn, Johnson responded to him and also congratulated Legend, saying he earned it. All three men were definitely good choices for the title but we can't way to see Elba do his thing in his upcoming films.
