Taylor Swift Will Be First-Ever Recipient of Billboard's Woman of the Decade Award at the 2019 Women in Music Event Next Month
Taylor Swift will be the first recipient of Billboard's new Artist of the Decade award, with the 2019 American Music Awards set to take place next month.
The American Music Awards teased with an update on social media at the end of October before Billboard officially shared the news on November 18.
"She's won more #AMAs than anyone this decade…She's a five-time 2019 #AMAs nominee…AND she's performing at this year's #AMAs LIVE on Nov. 24… @taylorswift13 is our ARTIST OF THE DECADE," the AMAs update read.
Apart from receiving the Woman of the Decade Award at Billboard's big music awards event on December 12 in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium, Taylor will also be performing.
In this decade alone, Taylor had five albums reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart, a further five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, two Billboard Woman of the Year Awards, and three worldwide stadium tours.
The award also honors Taylor's commitment to music education, protecting creative rights, cancer research, disaster relief, and her work with the Time's Up initiative.
Because of her numerous professional achievements, Billboard deems Taylor Swift as "one of the most accomplished musical artists of all time over the course of the 2010s." The annual event will also honor fellow female artists Brandi Carlile, Alanis Morissette, Nicki Minaj, and Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation.

The pop singer made history at the annual AMAs last year when she surpassed Whitney Houston as the female artist with the most wins.
