John Legend Talks about His Family's Christmas Traditions and Says He's Not Sure Daughter Luna Believes in Santa Claus
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s eldest daughter, Luna Simone, might be outsmarting them when it comes to Santa, as the singer recently said he’s not sure she believes in the man with the red suit.
John Legend has been pretty busy after being named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” but when it comes to talking about his family, the “All of Me” crooner is always ready to gush and get into the juiciest details.

PLAYING ALONG WITH LUNA
Last Friday, Legend attended the Bloomingdale’s holiday store window unveiling, where he not only helped reveal the store’s iconic Christmas windows but also sang some hits from his Christmas album.
Talking to People at the event, the 40-year-old revealed that he’s not sure where he and his wife currently stand with daughter Luna on the whole Santa’s existence theme. As he explained:
“Luna, she talks about Santa, and I don’t know if she really believes in Santa or if she just does it to play along with us. I don’t know what’s going on yet.”
Legend says he didn’t grow up believing in Santa, so he has no experience in how parents keep the whole story alive until their kids grow up.
Because of that, he doesn’t know how to play the fantasy out for Luna, or for how long he should keep it up. “I feel like she’ll figure it out pretty soon,” he said.
THE CHRISTMAS GIFTS
Like every other kid, Christmas is exciting for Luna and her little brother Miles, 1, because of all the gifts.
Another tradition that little Luna established, and that goes on beyond Christmas, is listening to her dad’s album “A Legendary Christmas,” all year round.
Legend says he and Teigen try to listen for what their kids like to buy the gifts accordingly. Still, the “The Voice” coach says he doesn’t want to spoil the little ones too much.
He knows his kids are fortunate to have the lavish life they have, but says it’s nice to give them something they would enjoy either way.
FAMILY TRADITIONS
Every fan of John and Chrissy knows they’re all about the food, family time, and music, and when it comes to Christmas, there’s not too much of a change in their traditions.
Legend points those three things as the most important aspects of their holidays, and they often have their extended family join them to make the celebration even more significant.
Another tradition that little Luna established, and that goes on beyond Christmas, is listening to her dad’s album “A Legendary Christmas,” all year round.
“Luna just thinks that’s a thing she should play whenever she wants to listen to daddy’s music. She’s like, ‘I want to hear daddy’s Christmas music,’ and it happens all year round,” Legend said.
The singer also told the magazine in a separate interview that this year, they’ll be going to Wyoming for Christmas because, since they live in sunny L.A, it doesn’t feel “Christmassy” in December.
