IGNITING THE EVENT

Ciara was on overdrive during this year’s awards show acting as host and performer and acing both.

The singer descended from the ceiling on a giant ring for her opening number where she was joined by Esther Dean and La La Anthony. The trio’s powerhouse performance brought the audience to their feet as they sang to the beat of Ciara’s self-love anthem, “Melanin.”

La La was in disbelief after watching herself during the electrifying number and took to her Instagram to share a clip.

“I can’t believe this JUST happened!! Performed with my bestie @ciara at the [expletive] AMA’s!! representing all the Melanin queens out there,” she wrote as part of her caption.

Meanwhile, Ciara raved about her awards stint and described it as “surreal” in her own post capturing the Black girl power performance. Dressed in gold, she owned the stage as she grooved along with her audience. At one point, she introduces La La who joins her dressed in a shiny latex catsuit and a pair of sunglasses.

Prior to the show, Ciara arrived on the red carpet looking bold in blue.

Stars were clearly loving the performance. The likes of Jenna Dewan and Regina King were obviously having fun as they joined the crowd who were on their feet.

SEEKING HER KIDS' APPROVAL

The performance ended with Ciara introducing herself as host and even asking a member of the audience to pinch her to confirm she wasn’t dreaming. Her children, Future Jr. and Sienna who were in the audience gave their stamp of approval when their mother asked them how she did.

Ciara’s husband, Russell Wilson wasn’t with them because he was tied up in a game for Seattle Seahawks against the Philadelphia Eagles.

BREATHTAKING IN BLUE

Prior to the show, Ciara arrived on the red carpet looking bold in blue. She wore an oversized Balmain suit in the royal shade which gave onlookers a peek into her cleavage. She was wearing nothing underneath her suit’s open blazer and used giant neckwear to conceal her bare chest.

“You're gonna see a lot of things tonight...Get ready to have a good time,” the singer said during her red carpet interview.
