Tia Mowry of 'Sister, Sister' Fame Gets Emotional after DNA Test Result Reveals Her Ancestry
Tia Mowry gets emotional on her most recent YouTube vlog as she shares her DNA test results that reveal her ancestry.
Fans of the Mowry siblings know that their parents had an interracial marriage, with their mom being Black and their father being White. However, Tia Mowry-Hardrict wanted to know more than just that, getting a DNA test to reveal her ancestry.
The Mowrys do not hear from their dad's side of the family due to their opposition of their parents' marriage up until today, despite their separation.
REVEALING HER DNA TEST RESULTS
On her YouTube channel "Tia Mowry's Quick Fix," she revealed to her fans that a month after she took the test, she finally got the results and would like to share it with them.
As it turns out, her dad's lineage has traces of British, Irish, French, Scandinavian, and German descent. Meanwhile, her mom's side originated from Africa, particularly Ghana and Nigeria.
HOPING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HER DAD'S FAMILY
One main reason why Tia wanted to do it was that she wanted to know more about where her dad came from, especially since that information isn't readily available to her. The Mowrys do not hear from their dad's side of the family due to their opposition of their parents' marriage up until today, despite their separation.
“I’ve always known some information about my mom’s side, but I didn’t know a lot about my dad’s side. My dad is white and when my mom and my dad got married, on my dad’s side, there wasn’t a lot of support — until now.”

She was also grateful to know what illnesses she is prone to, as she may now take precautionary measures to make sure she doesn't get them.
“With that information I now can do whatever I need to do to try to prevent that from happening. At first I was really nervous about receiving this because you just never really know what’s going to be revealed, but again, as I’ve gotten older, I’m really starting to believe that knowledge is power. So the more information I know, even though sometimes that can be scary, you can do something about it.”
Knowing more about her family and lineage, Tia Mowry is determined to use her ancestry as motivation to keep doing well in her craft and to take much better care of herself and her family now that she knows brand new information that can help them.
