'Sister, Sister' Star Tia Mowry Got Emotional after DNA Test Result Revealed Her Ancestry in 2020
Tia Mowry once got emotional after her DNA test results revealed her ancestry back in 2020. She and her siblings grew up in an interracial household with a Bahamian mom and a European father.
Tia and Tamera Mowry grew up in front of the camera, having been child stars at an early age. Because of their parents' military backgrounds, the twins moved around a lot, living in Germany, Texas, and Hawaii in their childhood years.
Fans of the Mowry siblings know that their parents had an interracial marriage, with their Bahamian mom being a person of color and their father being light-skinned European. However, Tia Mowry-Hardrict wanted to know more than just that, getting a DNA test to reveal her ancestry.

REVEALING HER DNA TEST RESULTS
On her YouTube channel "Tia Mowry's Quick Fix," she revealed to her fans that a month after she took the test, she finally got the result and would like to share it with them.
As it turns out, her dad's lineage has traces of British, Irish, French, Scandinavian, and German descent. Meanwhile, her mom's side originated from Africa, particularly Ghana and Nigeria.
HOPING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HER DAD'S FAMILY
Tia wanted to do the test to know more about where her dad came from since that information wasn't readily available to her. The Mowrys do not hear from their dad's side of the family due to their opposition to their parents' marriage, despite their separation. She said:
“My dad is white and when my mom and my dad got married, on my dad’s side, there wasn’t a lot of support — until now.”
MOWRY'S GRATEFULNESS FOR HER ANCESTRY
In the end, Mowry-Hardrict ended up in tears as she shared how grateful she was for both sides of her family. She was also grateful to know what illnesses she was prone to, as she could take precautionary measures to ensure she didn't get them.
Knowing more about her family and lineage, Mowry is determined to use her ancestry as motivation to keep doing well in her craft and to take better care of herself and her family now that she knows brand new information that can help them.
GROWING THE FAMILY
Tia and Tamera have two younger brothers, Tahj and Tavior Mowry. Although their parents separated, they remain close to each of them. In fact, last July, Tia went on vacation to Hawaii with her dad. She thanked him for being the best grandfather to her children, adding that it brings her so much joy.
In 2008, Tia married Cory Hardrict after meeting him on the set of "Hollywood Horror." They dated for six years prior to their wedding and now share two kids together named Cree and Cairo.
Meanwhile, Tamera, former "The Real" co-host, is in an interracial marriage with her husband, Adam Housley. They, too, share two children together named Ariah and Aden.
