Heather Matarazzo Who Played Lilly Moscovitz in 'The Princess Diaries' Is Now 37 and Looks Different in Real Life
She became a familiar face for playing Lilly Moscovitz in “The Princess Diaries.” At 37, Heather Matarazzo is now looking a little different.
The actress looks gorgeous in real life, as shown in the photos she shared on Instagram. The passing of time has clearly not faded her beauty, which her character in the iconic movie doesn’t really reveal.
Her character, Lilly, is the best friend of Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway in the 2001 movie and its sequel, “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.” The movie was an international hit.
AN OUTSPOKEN ACTIVIST
Apart from being a prolific actress, Matarazzo is active with social causes. She is an outspoken feminist who advocates not only advocates for women but also for members of the LGBTQ+ community, as reported by The List.
The actress has played dozens of roles in both blockbusters and indie films. But more impressive is the fact that she uses her platform to advocate for the rights of the marginalized.
It was in 1995 when Matarazzo made her Hollywood breakthrough. She starred in the coming-of-age movie, “Welcome to the Dollhouse,” at just 11 years old.
AWARD-WINNING PERFORMANCE
In the film, she portrayed the lead role of Dawn Weiner. For her brilliant acting in the film, Matarazzo took home the Independent Spirit Award for best debut performance.
But her acting experience goes back to when she was seven years old. At that time, she played a Munchkin in a local production of “The Wizard of Oz.”
Matarazzo not only speaks out for the rights of women and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
EARLY EXPERIENCE WITH A SOCIAL CAUSE
Her experience in this production also exposed the actress to the humanitarian world. The proceeds from the show went to children suffering from AIDS.
She recalled calling out other actors and crew on the set for not taking the rehearsals seriously. She said:
”I grabbed a microphone and essentially told everyone off. I told them we were working for a good cause, and that everyone should get with it, do their parts and put smiles on their faces.”
Matarazzo not only speaks out for the rights of women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The outspoken actress is also an animal rights advocate, as reported by Insider.
Matarazzo’s recent projects include her appearance on two episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" in 2015. In 2019, she starred in three films: “The Fiddling Horse,” “Smothered by Mothers and Billboard.”

Hathaway is also enjoying marital life. She was recently spotted sharing a passionate embrace with her husband, Adam Shulman, in New York.
