During an interview with Today Show on Monday, Matt Mauser spoke about his wife and her relationship with the basketball icon.

Speaking to the hosts of the show about his reaction to the news of his wife's demise, Matt confessed that he is scared about navigating the future with his three kids and no mother.

He then went to talk about his wife and how Kobe chose Christina to coach with him because she was "extraordinary and incredibly witty." Describing the incredible soul that his wife is, Matt said:

"She was warm. She was incredibly bright. She was technologically incredibly savvy. She could figure out anything."

Matt then went on to recall that a time his wife helped out Kobe when he was struggling to use a laptop to break down film.

The New York Post noted that Matt, who tutored Kobe's daughters in Spanish, revealed that the night of the devastating tragedy, he and his kids had a slumber party where they watched tributes on TV to the victims of the crash.

Recalling what his daughter told him while they grieved, Matt said that she told him:

"it was nice to know that everyone was hurting along with us. I know that sounds odd, but it does kind of help."

Matt also touched on the families of the other victims of the crash, saying:

"They were amazing people … They were wonderful. They were warm. They loved their kids, and they were so proud that their kids were growing."

According to KTLA 5 News, Christina taught physical education at the Harbor Day, a private school in Newport Beach for more than a decade. She and her husband taught and coached basketball at the school, and that's how they met Kobe.

Describing her impressive skill with the hoops, Matt said that they called his wife "the mother of defense."

Sky News reports that the other victims of the crash as a mother-daughter duo, Sarah, and Payton Chester. Payton was Gianna's playmate on the Mamba team. Ara Zobayan, the pilot of the helicopter, also lost his life.

John was the head baseball coach for Orange Coast College while his daughter Alyssa played on the same team as Bryant's daughter. May the souls of the departed rest in peace.
