Sylvester Stallone's Mom Warned Him to Not Marry Brigette Nielsen

Sylvester Stallone's mom saw into the future and rightly predicted that his marriage with Brigette Nielsen wouldn't last. Had he listened to her, it would have prevented a lot of heartbreak.

Mothers know best is a famous saying, and wise children often listen to their parents. But one renowned actor failed to listen to his mother's timely advice about a woman he wanted to marry, and it led to a lot of regrets.

The actor is Sylvester Stallone, the man known as "John Rambo" and the woman is the Danish actress, Brigette Nielsen. The wise mother is Jacqueline, famously called Jackie, and the 98-year-old mother of the Hollywood star.

IT BEGAN WITH A FAN-GIRL MOMENT

Back in '85, when Stallone was 39, and at the height of the success of his "Rocky" franchise, he met the blonde actress. The latter was riding on the fame of her successful film "Red Sonja," but at 22, she was awestruck by her male colleague.

The fan-girl feeling as she would later reveal led Nielsen to send the actor a letter asking to meet him. Although she never thought he would call back, she nearly fell off her bed when he did.

What followed that phone call was a whirlwind romance, unlike anything that Hollywood had ever seen. It didn't matter that Stallone was recently divorced; the two became the celebrity couple of the year.

The only person who didn't buy into the romance was Jackie. The mom-of-two never approved of her son's relationship with the Danish native as it spelled doom from the beginning.

IT WASN'T MEANT TO BE

The actor's mother, who is a professional astrologist, saw in the stars that her son's relationship with Nielsen would not last. Thus, when Stallone told her he was getting married to the actress, she told him not to.

Jackie vehemently opposed the union and told her son she wouldn't attend the wedding. In her words,

"I asked Sylvester not to marry [Nielsen] because it was not going to last [longer] than the next eclipse, and he would file for divorce."

True to her words, Stallone and the blond beauty's marriage hit the rocks before the ink could dry on their marriage certificate. By April '87, the month of the eclipse, the two had filed for divorce.

What followed next as Nielsen revealed on "Oprah: Where Are They Now" in 2014 was heartbreaking. The actress stopped getting jobs in Hollywood; she had doors locked to her face and got blacklisted.

A NOT-SO-AWKWARD REUNION

Left with no job and zero prospects, the actress who starred in "Rocky IV" with Stallone moved back to Europe. She left with nothing but her clothes and the four languages — Danish, German, Italian, and English — she spoke.

Nielsen remained there for years, having no contact with her ex-husband. Things between the two changed when the actor/ movie mogul offered the actress a role in the second installment of "Creed."

The exes got to work together again, and as the mom-of-one told People in 2018, they behaved as two professionals. She acknowledged that it was a bit emotional but amazing at the same time.

The two have since moved on to different people. The actress married the Italian model, Mattia Dessi, and Sylvester Stallone's wife is the former model turned beauty entrepreneur, Jennifer Flavin.

A DEEP FAMILY BOND

The actor met his wife in '88, but the two didn't tie the knot until '97. The marriage produced three daughters, Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet, and they have two brothers.

Sylvester Stallone's sons, Sage and Seargeoh, are from his first marriage to the photographer, Sasha Czack. Unlike their father, Sylvester Stallone Children are carving their path in life, except for his second daughter, who is following his steps into Hollywood.

Family is at the bedrock of who the actor is, and he has Jackie to thank for it. Mother and son share a deep and close bond, and the older woman shares her son's love for the fit life.

One of "The Expendables'" star's mother's posts on Facebook showed her doing Pilates. Jackie also has an active Instagram account with over 20,000 followers, and she proudly wrote in her bio that she is the mother of Sylvester Stallone and Frank Stallone.
