A TRAILBLAZER FOR BLACK ARTISTS
To introduce Cicely, Shonda described her as the "rarest of souls," who trailblazed a path to fulfill her dreams and pave the way for generations to follow.
Tyson was the first black actor to ever star in a TV series, the first black woman to win an Emmy for Lead Actress in A Television Movie, and the first black actress to receive an honorary Oscar.
Cicely Tyson has been in the industry for more than 80 years, making her one of the longest-running actresses of all time. Now 94-years-old, she continues to do what she loves.
94 AND STILL WORKING
She recently just starred in Tyler Perry's Netflix movie "A Fall from Grace," where Perry himself praised her for her stellar acting and referred to her as "queen"
"THIS WOMAN IS 45 years older than I am!! Damn, I need to moisturize!! All jokes aside. This is Queen Cicely. What a life, what a journey, what a soul!! We love you!!"
BRINGING PRODUCERS' IDEAS TO LIFE
50-year-old Tyler Perry has managed to build quite an empire, with a successful career that has not only created wonderful movies and TV shows but a 330-acre studio that has state-of-the-art facilities for movie and TV sets among many others.
However, what makes Tyler Perry's life successful aside from his creative direction, are the actors and actresses that bring his ideas to life. One of them is Cicely Tyson, and he made sure to honor her for that through his Instagram post.
At 94-years-old, it seems there is no stopping Cicely Tyson, who is still very active in the industry. Congratulations on the Hall of Fame induction, Cicely!
