Michelle Obama Shares Photo with Her Girlfriends Dressed in '80s-Style Workout Clothes Ahead of Valentine's Day
Couples throughout the world celebrated Valentine's Day on February 14, but Michelle Obama had some different plans to celebrate love. The former first lady chose to spend the day ahead of Valentine's with her lady pals.
Valentine's day isn't necessarily meant to be spent with a romantic partner, and Michelle Obama agrees with the sentiment. Ahead of the day of love, Michelle decided to spend some time with her girlfriends.
Michelle took to Instagram to share a snapshot of herself with her girlfriends clad in ’80s workout gear as a part of her "Galentine's Day" celebration.

GIRL POWER
"I know I can lean on these ladies—and that’s made all the difference."
The unofficial friendship holiday came into existence after fans learned the term from NBC's sitcom "Parks and Recreation." Michelle thought it would be a good idea to resurrect the custom.
In the lengthy caption to her "Galentine's Day" post, the former first lady thanked her friends for helping her stay sane and grounded through the ups and downs of her life.
She also expressed how grateful she is for their friendship because they are the ones who she can rely on when she needs support.
HER LIFE NOW
Michelle, who recently became an empty nester with her husband, Barack Obama, after their youngest daughter Sasha went off to college, does enjoy the company of her friends.
After her youngest child went off to college, Michelle feels like life is good as an empty nester. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey on her "Oprah's 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus," the mother-of-two opened up about how she and Barack spend their time at home now.
According to her, every day feels like she is living the best life with her husband now. She also revealed that it is "great" for her and Barack to finally have the house to themselves. However, it wasn't easy to say goodbye to their kids after 18 years of parenting.
"We all try to hold it together...and then me and Barack, we bawled like babies. You know, Barack, has that ugly, loud cry...he did that at Malia's graduation."
NOT SO PERFECT
Michelle and Barack might seem like a perfect couple, but they have had their troubles with their marriage in the past. The couple even went for marriage counseling to make their union work.
During her appearance in "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Michelle revealed that if it wasn't for the counseling, she wouldn't have known that it wasn't entirely her husband who needed to be counseled.
Before going for the counseling session, Michelle thought that she was perfect and it was her husband who needed to be fixed. But the marriage counselor had a different opinion.
After the enlightening session, Michelle understood that it wasn't up to Barack to make her happy. She learned that she had to love herself first to be truly happy.
