“Dawson Creek” star and hands-on father of five, James Van Der Beek, recently shared a post on how he raises his five kids on Instagram.
Despite being a busy actor, James Van Der Beek still manages to find time to raise his five kids well and maintain a successful career.
The 42-year-old actor recently took to social media to share his best parenting advice, which every parent can learn from.

A PIECE OF ADVICE
Van Der Beek recently said that there are several ways to bring up children, and through all these, one thing is for sure -- kids will teach parents the best way to raise them.
The actor acknowledged the many advice people and books give parents but also claims that each child is different, thus needs a style that will fit their personality. He ended his post by providing the best advice:
“Connect with them every chance you get. Because it’s all an opportunity for connection.”
Van Der Beek also believes that being honest with is children is something that helps in their upbringing. He shared with PEOPLE:
“Use the right terms; use the correct terminology. There is no shame if you talk about things bluntly. If you don’t make it weird, it’s not weird.”
FIVE ADORABLE CHILDREN
Van Der Beek is also a frequent Instagram user, mostly sharing photos and clips of his family, including his five kids: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, and Gwendolyn.
The “Dawson Creek” star gets by with a lot of help from his wife, Kimberly Brook. Together, the couple has been through heaven and hell, including suffering a miscarriage.
The actor didn’t hold back from sharing their experience online, hoping it would help other couples who experienced the same loss and pain to cope.

AN ALMOST SIXTH CHILD
In the later part of 2019, Van Der Beek announced that he and his wife were expecting a baby number six, but shortly after, they lost the child.
The couple’s experience, though tragic, taught them a lot -- especially how to value what they have and not to take things for granted.
He told PEOPLE:
“We’re hanging in there. We have so much love and support, and we appreciate it. Kimberly is hanging in there.”
Through it all, fans and followers of the actor showed their undying support for the family, which he was ever so grateful for.
