Regarding the virtual graduation ceremony for the class of 2020, media mogul Oprah Winfrey has been slated to give the commencement speech.

It is safe to say that the ongoing pandemic has disrupted lots of plans and social gatherings around the globe, and the 2020 graduating students are not left out.

However, some stars saw the need to create a special celebration for these students through virtual means, and they have a host of activities ready!

The event which is to be hosted by Facebook and Instagram will also have the likes of Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Simon Biles, Jennifer Garner, and Akwafina, among others, in virtual attendance.

The ceremony is themed, "#Graduation2020: Facebook and Instagram celebrates the class of 2020." The public will have access to view the celebration via Facebook watch and the Facebook app page. Clips from the event will also be shared to Instagram.

Facebook is determined to bring back the spirit of prom and graduation, even if it isn't in the traditional way. In weeks leading up the main event, which will hold on May 15, the global app will also launch a series of graduation stickers to get the celebrants in the mood!

Facebook is also working towards providing means for graduands and their families to organize their personal virtual ceremonies across the country. Presently, a ban has been placed on schools, and the rest of school calendars have been canceled except in eight states.

In honor of the disrupted 2020 prom season, "Today" hosts gathered in their virtual show to share high school and prom night memories. Craig Melvin began by sharing a throwback image of himself dressed for prom while revealing that his mom was upset that he got home late on that day.

However, Hoda Kotb revealed that she wasn't present at her prom ceremony, but she shared a throwback picture from another high school event. In the end, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and Carson Day also made it known that they were absent at prom.

Acclaimed weatherman Al Roker joined in the virtual celebration trend as he hosted a befitting online prom for the graduating students in a Nebraska high school.

The students of Douglas County West High School celebrated a joyous virtual prom after Roker had corsages and boutonnieres sent to the seniors for their digital party.

At the end of the event, the senior students picked their prom queen and king before singer Demi Lovato surprised them with her graceful presence.
