Dylan Dreyer Returns to 'Today' after Maternity Leave via Video Call Amid Quarantine
NBC weather anchor, Dylan Dreyer, returns to the third hour of the "Today" show after a long maternity leave, and opened up about how her family and their latest addition have been doing.
The official Twitter account of the 3rd hour of "Today" shared a 73-second video of Dylan's return on the show since she took her maternity leave and welcomed her second son, Oliver, in January. When her co-host, Craig, asked about her family, Dreyer said:
"Family is good. I mean, we're just getting this extra family time together. Normally, when I went back with Calvin for maternity leave, I was a nervous wreck."

Dreyer admitted that after she gave birth to her first child, Calvin, she had been uncontrollably emotional, she did not want to leave and had different thoughts going through her mind.
This time, however, the after-effects of Oliver's birth were not as intense. She marveled at how much smoother things were going, adding that she was even able to work on the show while her sons were together in the next room.
Happy to have her back, Dylan and her co-hosts Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Sheinelle Jones, all raised their glasses, to celebrate her virtual return to work via video call.
Jenna Bush Hager also returned to work as a co-host on "Today with Hoda and Jenna," virtually.
After exchanging pleasantries, Craig took it upon himself to point out that it had been so long since the four co-anchors had hosted the segment together. The last time was on December 19, 2019, after which Jones missed six weeks of work after vocal cord surgery.
Sheinelle said that she could not imagine how long it had been. The four of them laughed and expressed how surprised they were at the bit of information. Dylan said:
"It's really kind of a special way to come back from maternity leave... It's certainly nice to be back — definitely a weird time."
Despite the joy that accompanied little Oliver's arrival, sad news came concerning Dylan's husband, Brian. The father of two was diagnosed with coronavirus early in April.
Fischer spent several days self-isolating in his 3-year-old son, Calvin's room, to make sure that Dylan and the kids remained safe and uninfected by the disease.
Dreyer also said that her husband had since recovered, and he and the boys were doing okay. The parents had, since then, directed all their focus to their children.
Another daytime show icon, Jenna Bush Hager, also returned to work as a co-host on "Today with Hoda and Jenna" virtually, after maternity leave in 2019 when she welcomed her third child, Henry, in August.
Dylan proved that she was excited to be with her co-anchors, better and stronger than ever, and ready to pick up where she left off on the show while remaining in quarantine with her loved ones.
