On Wednesday, the 27th of May, her three-year-old daughter, Stevie, passed away from complicated and rare brain cancer. She took to Instagram to share her pain and wrote:

"... Adored little sister, daughter, and friend. At 1:05 pm on the 27th of May, Stevie took her final breath in our arms."

Ashley added that there were many divine moments in her daughter's life, leading to her death that she did not even have the strength to share yet. Although she was overwhelmed with intense pain that sat in her heart, she was relieved that her daughter was at peace.

Ashley admitted that she had deep grief that was eating her up from the inside and that she doesn't see how she would survive it if she left it out all at once. Hence, to keep herself from exploding, she would release her grief and deal with it little by little.

Ashley and her family decided to celebrate Stevie's 3rd Birthday early to celebrate her life.

She revealed that gentleness had been her major approach to the pain that she and her family were feeling. They all had a belief and faith that there was always a reason for every tragedy. Despite that, they still knew that it wasn't a get out of pain-free card, and it was okay to have faith to hold on to.

The dramatic journey for Ashley's family began on the 11th of April when her daughter was rushed to the hospital. There, the doctors found a huge mass on her brain.

What made the whole situation worse was the fact that the whole family could not say goodbye at the same time. Due to the current pandemic, only one parent was allowed to visit Stevie at once.

Racked with confusion and pain, the mother-of-three decided to stay by her daughter's side, while her husband, Been, held the fort at home with their two sons, Wesley and Sawyer. At the time, she took to Instagram to share what was happening in her life. She wrote:

"Last night our almost three-year-old daughter, Stevie, was admitted to the hospital due to rapidly declining motor function."

Two days after the initial reveal, she opened up some more about her daughter's condition. The cancer was a rare form called DIPG — diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma — and it had a 0% chance of survival.

As Stevie's condition gradually worsened, they decided that they would stay in the hospital for a while before taking her home, where she could be in the comfort and arms of her loved ones till the very end.

On the 15th of May, Ashley revealed that they had decided to celebrate Stevie's 3rd Birthday early. It was all they could do to hold on to the vibrant young star and celebrate her life.

The little one was slowly slipping away. On some days, she would sit on the couch in her little corner. On others, she would be so plagued by a pain so intense that her family ached with the sight.

Her verbal communication and motor skills began to diminish, but they knew that she was being as courageous as she could be. On the 27th of May, before she finally passed, Ashley revealed that she was breathing but unresponsive.

They all huddled close to Stevie, filling her with love and sweet words, telling her that she would be cherished always and forever till they will meet again.

Ashley's family, friends, and fans sympathized with her. They offered kind words and their condolences and hoped that they would find the strength to move on from this tragedy that struck her family.
