What Tika Sumpter Wants Black People with White Partners to Do When It Comes to Racial Talks
Tika Sumpter provides a word of advice to the Black community members with White partners, reminding them that their white spouses do not need protection as much as they do.
Amid massive protests and demonstrations happening around America, Tika Sumpter gave a timely reminder to those in interracial couples. According to Sumpter, their White partners will be fine, and that they need to fight on their behalf instead.
"They need to continue to fight for us. If they get offended when you talk about racists, you have a bigger problem on your hands."
HER OWN INTERRACIAL EXPERIENCE
Tika Sumpter herself is in an interracial marriage with Nick James, and their relationship was subject to criticism for years due to the fact that she chose to marry a White man. Now that issues of racial injustice are being addressed nationwide, the "Haves and the Have Nots" actress reminded Black people with White spouses that it should be their White spouses' responsibility to fight for them.
Although some people have been arguing that "all lives matter," the racial injustice and police brutality experienced by the Black community cannot be disregarded. That is why up until today, protests and demonstrations to put a stop to racism has been happening for weeks now.

WHAT SPARKED IT ALL

Although he was insisting on his innocence, police officers pinned him to the ground with an officer's knee on his neck, causing him to suffocate.
His death reminded the world of the many other victims of police brutality, and people from around the world have rallied behind the Black community in support.
