Melissa Etheridge, famous singer and songwriter has given her fans an update on her condition as she deals with the death of her son, Beckett.
Earlier this week, the singer sent out a tweet where she thanked her fans and friends for their support. She explained that while she has been grieving Beckett's death, she has also been coping pretty well.
Beckett died last month, according to reports. He was 21 at the time, and he reportedly lost his life due to an addiction to opioids. At the time, Etheridge had been giving tutorials to people amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Despite the horror of her son's death, Etheridge has made it a habit to update fans over the past few weeks. At the time of his death, she released a statement where she confirmed what had happened.
In her statement, she explained that she had joined the thousands who have been affected by opioid addiction in some way or the other. She added:
"My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today..."
Etheridge also explained that she knew he felt a lot of pain. However, she was comforted by the fact that he probably felt better.
Despite all of that, she pointed out that the family had been struggling, knowing that they could have saved him. Still, they accepted the turn of events.
The singer raised hopes about a return to the music scene as well.
Etheridge's statement on her son's death ended with a commitment to return to singing soon. She also kept the same theme in her latest tweet, explaining that she was working towards a possible return.
The singer explained in her tweet that she had been feeling much better. In part, she credited the therapeutic properties of music. The tweet explained:
"While nothing but time will heal the empty space in my heart, I have been hopeful watching the world rise up and ask for more love."
She ended by saying that she would inform fans about her possible return to the music scene in the coming days.
Beckett was one of Etheridge's four children. She also has 23-year-old Bailey Jean and twins Miller and Johnnie, both 13. It is great that she's getting over the grief, and fans will most likely be anticipating her return to music.
