People magazine exclusively confirms that the 50-year-old actor has announced that he will fund all the funeral expenses and pay for all of Rayshard’s kids’ college tuition.

At the same time, the officer who shot Brooks, Garrett Rolfe, was sacked, and the other officer, Devin Brosnan, has been put on administrative duty.

A source revealed to the publication that the award-winning actor and movie producer in a conversation with the deceased’s family requested for what he could do to assist the family at this time.

He expressed his condolences saying that His heart goes out to the family during this tragic time. The late 27-year-old is survived by his wife, Tomika Miller, three daughters, Dream, 1, Memory, 2, Blessing, 8, and step-son, Mekai, 13.

BBC reports that the tragic shooting occurred hours to Rayshard’s 8-year-old daughter’s birthday. As seen in camera footages, while being accosted by the police for blocking a Wendy’s drive-thru lane, after a sobriety test, the father of four admitted to drinking at his daughter’s birthday.

However, Brooks was reportedly shot at the back after he attempted to resist arrest and fled the scene with one of the officer’s taser.

Despite all that had happened, one of the Brooks’ family attorneys, as reported by another People magazine piece, said that a birthday celebration was still held for 8-year-old Blessing.

At the same time, the officer who shot Brooks, Garrett Rolfe, was sacked, and the other officer, Devin Brosnan, has been put on administrative duty. In a statement reported by the news outlet, Shields said:

“I have faith in the mayor, and it is time for the city to move forward and build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.”

Following a report on the Brooks’ family emotional press conference on Monday, the Insider described the deceased as a doting family man who hoped the George Floyd protests would ensure a much needed positive stance on police brutality.
