'Game of Thrones' Star Kit Harington Debuts Buzz Cut and Looks Almost Unrecognizable
"Game of Thrones" star, Kit Harington, sported a new short hairstyle as he plans to lose the "Jon Snow" look, in anticipation of his next big role.
Jon Snow is gone, and he's not coming back anytime soon, or at least that is the message being passed by the character's actor, Kit Harington. The "Game of Thrones" star has built an image as the dreamy-eyed, muscular, and hairy fantasy of many over the past decade.
However, after a prolonged COVID-19, induced lockdown in his hometown, the actor has swapped his trademark brunette curls for a short buzz cut. Kit looked scarcely recognizable as he went for a walk on the streets of London last week.
Harington sported a black turtleneck T-shirt, a pair of skinny blue jeans, and grey suede boots, as he showed off his muscular physique.
He had previously announced plans to cut his hair in an attempt to be less recognizable as his Westeros character. Harington spoke to a media outlet about it, as he was wrapping up work on the legendary HBO series.
It's safe to say his new hairstyle is achieving just that effect. However, Harington isn't quite as eager to get rid of another trademark factor of his appearance — his beard.
Harington admitted that while he was glad to be getting rid of his curls, he had mixed feelings about his beards.
The actor is looking towards new parts, with new looks, after completing filming on Marvel's "The Eternals."
Harington joins a slew of celebrities, including Emily Ratajkowski, Simone Biles, Usher, and more, who have made significant changes in their appearance while in lockdown.
The actor once expressed, in 2017, his wonderment at people's fascination with his hair, before revealing that the "secret" to such a head mop was not washing it too often.
Harington also stated that HBO would not let him cut his hair below a certain length while he was still filming as Jon Snow. The eighth and final season of the fantasy drama television series had mixed reviews.
Harington has, however, been casted for the role of Dane Whitman (Black Knight), along with fellow GOT star Richard Madden in the upcoming Marvel movie: "The Eternals," which concluded filming early this year.
The movie is set to hit cinemas in 2021, after its original November 2020 release was postponed in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
