According to ET Online, the security footage showed the moment that the actress and her 4-year-old son, Josey Hollis Dorsey, arrived at Lake Piru where they rented a pontoon boat on July 8.
[Josey] explained that even though he and his mother had gone swimming in the water, she never came back to the boat.
The surveillance video which was released by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office also showed that the mother-son duo was taken to a boat before they left the harbor.
The boat, which was supposed to return to shore an estimated three hours later was said to have been rented around 1 p.m. that Wednesday.
Fox News noted that while authorities are unclear about what transpired at that time, Rivera’s son was found by himself on the boat some hours later.
The 4-year-old explained that even though he and his mother had gone swimming in the water, she never came back to the boat.
While the search for Rivera is still underway, Ventura authorities said that the process has been moved from “a rescue mission into a recovery operation” as dive and air teams partake in searching the lake.
Fox News added that a new statement highlighted that some challenges such as “low visibility” in the 30-feet deep lake, have resulted in “a very slow process” for the search.
The authorities have, however, noted that it was possible that the “Glee” alum drowned “in what appears to be a tragic accident.”
As for her son, whom she birthed during her marriage to Ryan Dorsey, authorities assured the public that he is doing well despite the unknown whereabouts of his mother.
Rivera’s “Glee” co-stars such as Demi Lovato, Heather Morris, and Harry Shum Jr., have all shared their sadness about the actress’s disappearance via social media.
Jackee Harry, who appeared on “The Royal Family” with the 33-year-old star, also tweeted that she was praying for the missing mother of one.
Rivera played the role of Santana Lopez in “Glee” and even tried her hand at music when she released “Sorry” — a track she worked on with Big Sean — in 2013.
