Teenager Wears Swimsuit against Her Mom's Wishes

A teenager took to Reddit to share her feelings after her mother became upset over her wearing a swimsuit.

The 15-year-old Reddit user revealed that she, her mother, father, and 12-year-old brother went to her maternal uncle's house.

Her uncle has a pool which she, her parents and brother have never used before. When they arrived, her two cousins invited her and her brother to go to the pool with them.

As they did not expect to be taking a dip in the pool, the teen and her brother did not bring swimsuits. But her brother was wearing active and synthetic clothes, so he was good.

The Reddit user said she was wearing regular clothes. Luckily, she was the same size as her aunt. Her aunt lent her a swimsuit.

She wore the sleeveless swimsuit and didn't think there was a problem with it until her mother saw her in it. Her mother asked her if she was sure she wanted to take a dip in the pool in that swimsuit.

The teen wrote: "I was confused because why would I sit out if the other kids were going to swim?" Her mother then pulled her aside and pointed out that she had not shaved her armpits.

Her mother remained upset after their visit and on their way back home.

She recalled her mother telling her, "It won't look good if you go in like that. Why don't you just sit this one out since you're older than the other kids anyway?"

The teen did not expect her mother to be upset over her wearing a swimsuit. She wanted to go in the pool because it was a hot day and she didn't want to be spending her time with the adults.

The teen told her mother that she would go in the pool but that she would keep her arms at her sides to not expose her armpits.

Her mother, however, became pissed and told her to "do whatever you want." The teen did not want her mood to ruin her day, so she went in the pool and had a fun time with her brother and cousins. Her mother remained upset after their visit and on their way back home.

This story of family conflict is reminiscent of another story shared on Reddit about a son who asked his mother to move out if she doesn't like his cats.
