How Dr Dre Is Protecting His $800m Fortune during His Ongoing Divorce with Wife of 24 Years, Nicole Young
Hip-hop legend and record producer Dr. Dre is currently working through a divorce. Like most Hollywood divorces, he appears to be caught up in a dispute over property distribution.
TMZ reported that Dr. Dre had revealed that he and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Nicole Young, had a prenuptial agreement before they got married.

The agreement could fundamentally shape how the pair reach a deal over the distribution of rights and property. Given that Dre is worth $800 million, he could be saving himself a whole lot.
Dre is being represented by Laura Wasser, a high-powered divorce attorney. Wasser filed the case on his behalf and will be handling the proceedings.
As the producer explained, he would have no problem with making spousal support payments to Young. However, any form of property distribution will have to be done following the terms of their prenup.
Dre’s filing showed that the divorce date was sometime in March.
Young, who is a lawyer herself, has sought some help with the case. She is being represented by celebrity attorney Samantha Spector.
It’s unclear how the prenup revelation could affect their divorce settlement. Agreements like these usually draw fine lines between how properties are to be shared.
However, while it’s easy to believe that Dre will be keeping his fortune intact, anything can still happen.
Dre and Young got married in 1996. At the time, the producer had launched a solo career after being a part of the iconic hip-hop group, N.W.A.
Young had been married to NBA player Sedale Threat as well. Throughout their marriage, they had two children — 23-year-old Truice and 19-year-old Truly.
It’s worth noting that Dre has a bit more of a complicated life. He has six other children from five different women. Young eventually filed for divorce last month, catching almost everyone by surprise. In her filing, she cited irreconcilable differences as the cause.
Many believed that the pair had been okay. Their last appearance was at a Tom Ford fashion show back in February. That same month, Dre had spoken about plans for his upcoming birthday.
He mentioned Young saying that they decided to do things low-key. Dre’s filing showed that the divorce date was sometime in March. Most likely, it happened during the lockdown.
