Woman Forces Daughter to Cut Contact with Her Online Friends

A mother was criticized for forcing her 14-year-old daughter to cut contact with her online friends. What's worse - she grounded her daughter at home.

She explained on Reddit that her daughter has not talked to any "real person" in five months since the quarantine began. She said her daughter has been spending a lot of time online. The mother added:

"I tried to tell her that online friends are not real friends and that she needs to talk to her real friends outside of the screen."

The teenager told her mother that she was upset with her school friends because they would leave her out of things, making her feel they didn't want her around them. The mother said:

"She could just confront them if they make her upset, not completely ditch them for a group of kids she met on a game."

But her daughter refused to oblige, saying that she and her online friends have been communicating for three years. But the mother dismissed her daughter’s explanation.

The mother told other Reddit users that she wanted her daughter to face the reality that there is more to life than being online. She was concerned about her daughter’s behavior.

Without any discussion, the mother forced her daughter to delete all her social media accounts including her gaming account. She demanded that her daughter to cut her online contacts.

Her daughter was very mad at her and cried hard, saying she missed her online friends.
