38-year-old Tennis legend Serena Williams is back at her job after months of self-isolation. Both her husband, Alexis Ohanian and her daughter, 2-year-old Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. are right there with her to watch her play.

A proud Ohanian, his wife’s biggest fan, took to his social media feed on August 11, 2020, to share an image of himself and his beloved Olympia sitting as they watch Williams do what she was born to do.

At least, Alexis Sr. was watching because Alexis Jr. appeared to be more interested in her father’s cellphone that on whatever was happening at the tennis court, something that made Ohanian comment:

“Yes, @olympiaohanian was busy on her phone probably checking up on @weareangelcity emails.”

In the caption, Ohanian was making a reference to the clothing store Angel City of which he is one of the founders. As a successful entrepreneur, he would love to see his little girl follow his steps.

As we also learned from the post’s caption, the match was part of the Top Seed Open in Kentucky. He also used the caption to express how proud he was of himself for having fixed his daughter’s hair for the occasion.

He was wearing a black facemask to follow COVID-19 safety measures and it looks like he has been letting his hair grow in the recent months of social distancing.

STEPPING DOWN FOR A CAUSE

Ohanian is famous on his own right as co-founder of the hugely popular website Reddit, of which he was a member of the board of executives until recently when he decided to step down with the hope of a Black person taking his place.

As he explained in a statement early in June 2020, he urged the remaining members of the board to replace him with a Black candidate in order to have a diversity of voices behind the platform.

Being the husband of a Black woman and the father of a biracial toddler, Ohanian was moved by the Black Lives Matter cause, considering the right thing to do to try and use his influence to pass on the opportunity for a Black person.

“I’m doing this for me, for my family, and for my country. I’m writing this as a father who needs to be able to answer his Black daughter when she asks: 'What did you do?'" he wrote on Twitter where he also shared his statement.

Moreover, Ohanian revealed his plans to use his future gains as a Reddit stock owner to donate to the Black community, starting with “a pledge of $1M to [Colin Kaepernick’s] @yourrightscamp.”

MAKING SERENA PROUD

As shocking as Ohanian's sudden decision to leave Reddit was for some people, Williams, his wife and the mother of his child, publicly supported his move, and she was sure to share it on social media.

On June 5, 2020, right after he made the announcement on Reddit and 15 years after helping founding it, his wife took to her Twitter feed to say how proud she was of her husband for having set such an example.

In her tweet, Williams stressed how important it was to have “diverse views on any boards,” adding that she is certain that Olympia will be proud of her father too when she gets to an age when she can understand what he did.
