The story of the day follows a woman who asked Reddit users if she made a wrong decision by refusing to watch over her grandchildren.

The woman is mother to three children, a son aged 30 and two daughters aged 28 and 20, respectively. All of them have kids.

While her son and oldest daughter have three children each, her youngest daughter is mother to one child. The woman explained that when her oldest grandchild turned one, she would occasionally have him overnight so her son and his wife could take a break.

Over the years, she has continued to watch over all of her grandchildren, but it has been pretty challenging. At this point, she feels that she can't watch over all seven of them in one night.

Although she doesn't mind helping her children out, the woman explained that she wants to have time to herself sometimes and do fun things like traveling. She also wants to work on her career.

She noted that once a week, she takes her children, their partners, and her grandkids out for a big family dinner. The woman explained that her three children once came over to her house and told her they felt she was not doing her best to help with their kids.

They then asked that their mother watch over the children every Friday and Saturday night so they and their partners can have time to themselves.

She refused their request while adding that watching over seven children two days in a row would be too exhausting for her.

As a compromise, the woman offered to watch all of her grandchildren one night every two weekends or watch over them once a week in smaller groups. However, her children were not happy with their mother's suggestions and stated that she was expected to help out.

The woman added that in addition to watching over her grandkids occasionally, she also helps her children by paying for the after school activities for each of their children.

Although her kids gave her time to think about it, the woman maintained that she would not change her mind. The woman's story garnered reactions from Reddit users who applauded her for her sacrifices. They also disapproved of her children's behavior.

One user wrote, "You're already doing so much above and beyond! Paying for two after school activities for each kid?" while another added, "You are not built-in childcare. Seven children at one time?"

Several other users left similar comments and reminded her that she was not obligated to raise her grandkids. To them, the woman does more than enough.
