Dwight Yoakam began his journey in the entertainment industry nearly four decades ago, and over the years, the 63-year-old singer rose to become one of country music's most prominent stars. While climbing the country music ladder, he also built up an impressive acting resume.

Throughout his career, Yoakam developed a reputation for his relentlessness and an unrivaled dedication to work. Also, he became known for keeping his personal life private.

Despite being notoriously private about his romantic life, he was involved in a highly publicized affair with iconic actress Sharon Stone. Yoakam has also been romantically linked with actresses Karen Duffy, Bridget Fonda, and fellow country music act, Wynonna Judd.

Since releasing his debut album, which featured several hits like "Honky Tonk Man" and the title track "Guitars, Cadillacs," Yoakam has enjoyed a successful music career spanning nearly four decades.

Those relationships have since been buried in the past, and the last decade has been defined by Yoakam's fascinating relationship with his long-time partner Emily Joyce. Here is all you need to know about the woman who finally got the iconic singer to say "I Do."

MEET DWIGHT YOAKAM'S WIFE EMILY JOYCE

Dwight Yoakam and Emily Joyce began dating in 2010, and after nearly six years together, the lovebird got engaged in 2016. Emily is a professional photographer and runs her own photography business.

She is the brains behind most of the pictures shared by Yoakam on his Instagram page. Also, she regularly photographs guests who feature on Yoakam's SiriusXM channel "Dwight Yoakam and the Bakersfield Beat," including Billy Bob Thornton, Post Malone, among others.

Quite interestingly, despite being a professional photographer, Emily is not so much into social media and has not shared a single picture on her official Instagram page, which Yoakam regularly tags in the photos she takes.

Not much is known about Emily because she prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Apart from being notoriously private about her personal life, Emily is known to be quite patient. She dated the "It Won't Hurt" crooner for a decade before exchanging marital vows.

DWIGHT YOAKAM AND EMILY JOYCE'S FASCINATING LOVE STORY

For many years fans of the veteran singer keenly watched as he carried on with his long-time girlfriend, wondering if the duo would ever walk down the aisle.

The couple is notoriously private about their personal lives. Still, whenever they made rare public appearances, they always exuded natural chemistry that showed that their love was destined for a happy ending.

After dating for over a decade, the couple eventually got their big day when they tied the knot in March 2020 just before the quarantine.

Even though the quarantine period had not officially begun in the United States at the time, Dwight Yoakam's wedding was a very private ceremony, which took place at the St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica.

Yoakam and Emily also ensured that social distancing guidelines were followed during their nuptials, including limiting their guest list to just ten people and ensuring they were all seated six feet apart.

Interestingly, the very private couple waited until May 4, 2020, before they revealed that they had tied the knot. In a statement released by Dwight Yoakam, he explained that the couple decided to hold back on announcing the news out of respect for those affected by the pandemic.

Barely five months after their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child, son Dalton Loren Yoakam on August 16, 2020. Yoakam's team shared the happy news on his Instagram page alongside a picture that showed the couple cradling Emily's baby bump right before heading to the hospital. Yoakam's team wrote in the caption:

"With great joy and happiness Dwight & Emily announce the birth this past Sunday of their new baby boy. Dalton Loren Yoakam Born 8-16-2020 at 9:19am."

DWIGHT YOAKAM'S CAREER

Dwight Yoakam is an American singer-songwriter and actor born on October 23, 1956, in Pikeville, Kentucky. He shot to fame in the mid-1980s after releasing his self-financed 1986 debut album, "Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.," and quickly earned a reputation for his pioneering style of country music.

When Yoakam began his music career, Nashville was tilted toward pop "urban cowboy" music, and his style of hip honky-tonk music was not considered marketable at the time. Despite the poor acceptance of his kind of music in Nashville, Yoakam persevered with his music and began to grow a massive following for his music when he moved to Los Angeles.

For much of his career, Yoakam dramatically stood alone, and in the process, he helped create an extended range of options available to country artists, thereby serving as a liberating force and role model for the new generation of country musicians.

Since releasing his debut album, which featured several hits like "Honky Tonk Man" and the title track "Guitars, Cadillacs," Yoakam has enjoyed a successful music career spanning nearly four decades. He also shares a Grammy award nomination with country music legend Buck Owens.

In 2016, Yoakam released his latest album titled "Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars …," which comes three decades after he dropped his debut album. While speaking about the album during an interview with Fresh Air, Yoakam claimed his grandparents had a significant influence on his music career.

In his words: "Yeah, I'll never escape the influence of him in my life. And my - his wife, my grandmother, Earlene Tibbs - those experiences with them shaped me musically probably more profoundly than anything else in my life and shaped me as a writer."

Dwight Yoakam has forever etched his name into the history of country music. His work is hardly done as he is still dishing out unforgettable performances, but with a family in the picture, fans may get to see a different side of the iconic singer.
