The husband of legendary singer Gladys Knight, William McDowell shared a throwback picture of them looking happy while making an appearance at an event.

The love shared by Gladys Knight and her husband, William McDowell was again laid bare for all to see when the latter took to his Instagram page on Thursday to share a photo of them.

The picture McDowell shared showed him and Knight seated at an event. The singer held on to her husband lovingly, smiling as she did.

Knight wore a thick black jacket over a white long-sleeved innerwear. She matched it with tight black pants. She also wore her hair in braids and completed her look with glasses.

On the other hand, McDowell wore a white hooded jacket which he matched with white pants. He also wore a black sleeveless jacket over his white hoodie. He captioned the post:

“Back in the Day...Last year! Crazy.”

McDowell’s fans were delighted to see his post and expressed themselves with their likes and comments. One person commented writing,

“Go Gladys & William.”

One fan described the picture as happiness, saying that it was “a lovely moment captured.” A second fan described Knight and McDowell as a beautiful couple.

McDowell is Knight’s fourth husband. The couple married in 2001 and are grandparents to seventeen grandchildren. They also have ten great-grandchildren.

The singer was first married to James Newman. Their union lasted 13 years from 1960 to 1973. The former couple shares two children. Her second marriage was to Barry Hankerson.

McDowell grew up in the Western North Carolina mountains and has a soft spot for the Canton Community that nurtured him.

She married him a year after divorcing Newman. Hankerson was into the music business and founded Blackground Records. He has managed famous artists like Aaliyah, R.Kelly, and Toni Braxton.

Hankerson and Knight share a son named Shanga. They separated in 1979, five years after their wedding. Knight’s third husband was Les Brown. They tied the knot in 1995 but split after two years.

Knight’s present husband, McDowell, grew up in the Western North Carolina mountains and has a soft spot for the Canton Community that nurtured him.

The former jewelry store owner and real estate businessman who also runs an artist community said in 2014 that he plans to give back to the locality by building a community center in Canton.

Meanwhile, the 76-year-old Knight who is regarded as the “Empress of Soul” has inspired a generation with her music and personality.

In October 2019, a special party was held in Los Angeles to mark the singer’s landmark 75th birthday at the Vibrato Grill Jazz. Joining Knight were her friends Terry Crews, LaToya Johnson, David Foster, and his wife, Katherine McPhee.
