Tyra Banks has assumed many different roles throughout her elaborate and decorated career but motherhood is the one she values the most because it is a blessing that came her way when all hope was lost. Here is the story of her heartbreaking journey to motherhood.

In the eyes of the world, Tyra Banks is a woman who has it all. She is the newest host of "Dancing With the Stars" with a diverse career that kicked off and is going strong since the 1990s.

She is a supermodel, a TV personality, an actor, and also a singer, but what many of her fans might not know is that Banks is also a doting mother who loves her child more than words can tell.

Banks is the mother to her son York Banks Asla who was born in January 2016 when she was in a relationship with Norwegian photographer Erik Asla. They welcomed their little bundle of joy via surrogate

York changed his mother's life the moment he came into the world, but having him was a journey riddled with heartbreak and pain. When her son was born, Banks felt like she had found the light at the end of the tunnel.

Before York was born, Banks was struggling with fertility issues. She was pretty open about her struggles to have a family and had tried using fertility treatments including IVF to have a baby.

Tired of trying, Banks and Asla ultimately turned to surrogacy.

In 2015, she revealed that she had pretty traumatic experiences with IVF. Her heart ached with a longing for children, but things simply did not work out in her favor even after a whole year of trying.

She always wanted to be the kind of mom who her child could go to for everything. In vitro fertilization never worked for her and it pained her loved ones to see her in a sad state, especially her mother, Carolyn London.

In an interview with People, London opened up about the pain that her daughter endured as she patiently waited for a miracle even though she had every reason to give up hope. She said

"She set up a nursery and in the bathroom she put a tile in the floor that said, 'Mommy Already Loves You.' And then she found out the IVF had failed."

Tired of trying, Banks and Asla ultimately turned to surrogacy. Days went by but Banks was constantly living on the edge until her baby boy was born. She has been a happy mom ever since.

Amid quarantine, Banks had been spending plenty of time with her little one and even homeschooled him. He is growing up to be a smart kid and already speaks three different languages!
