Kelly Petrere happily lives with her husband Ryan in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she works as a musical theater teacher at the Northwest School of the Arts. And like many women, she didn't know she had a fertility problem until she tried getting pregnant.

Following three years of marriage, Kelly and Ryan decided the time was ripe to begin a family. But soon after they started trying in September last year, Kelly realized that all might not go as planned.

HER STRUGGLE WITH FERTILITY

Sharing her experience, Kelly said that it started feeling like something just wasn't right after she went off birth control. Even so, she never thought that fertility would be an issue, but then it became something she had to face, as she said:

"I did not think that it was going to be an issue. I just wasn't ovulating, so there was no opportunity to even actively try to conceive."

PREGNANCY PLANNING ADVICE

The CDC recommends that women first establish their individual levels of preconception health before attempting to get pregnant, irrespective of whether you have been a mom before or not.

Since every woman's body works differently, the center said that some women could take a few months before their hormone levels become optimal for conception, some even longer.

Not only will mindfulness about one's health lead to easier chances of conception, but it will also assist in the healthy growth of the child once pregnant.

IT TOOK MONTHS BEFORE SHE OVULATED AGAIN

For Kelly, it took nine months before she started ovulating again. To help things along, she took supplements to help kickstart the natural cycle faithfully every month, until one day, when everything changed.

Despite repeated negative pregnancy test results, Kelly faithfully kept checking until the day she had been praying for arrived. Now 18 weeks into a healthy pregnancy, Kelly explained why she shared her story and said:

"I see so many other people struggling with trying to conceive, that I don't mind posting this and helping them not feel alone."

CHRISSY TEIGEN CAN RELATE

The model and soon-to-be mother of three also has experience with fertility issues. Even though Chrissy Teigen already shares two beautiful children with musician husband John Legend, it hasn't been an easy road.

Currently pregnant and on bed rest with her third bundle of joy, Teigen previously underwent IVF treatments before the magic started happening.
