DL Hughley Once Shared That His Younger Daughter Was Afraid to Tell Him She's Gay
DL Hughley is proud of his gay daughter, who once feared telling him about her sexuality due to possible adverse reactions.
One of the many issues in this era is sexuality or gender preferences, which not everyone is open and accepting of. Specifically, parents with kids part of the LGBTQ+ community have difficulty taking in the truth about their child's sexuality.
In an interview with VLAD TV, DL Hughley opened up about his youngest daughter's coming out story. As any child would, his daughter hesitated to tell the truth until eventually gathering the courage to do so.

"The thing that bothered me the most was how, that her fear of how I'd react plagued her more than my next reaction," he said. The actor then thought that he might have done something "that made her feel she wasn't safe."
Although Hughley was not shocked by the news, it was not something he expected his daughter to say either. The comedian has supported the LGBTQ+ community for years, and at one point, made a bold move to raise awareness.

In 2012, he revealed that he ended his affiliations with the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A after the corporation's president, Dan Cathy, declared her marriage equality stance.
The 57-year-old did not experience the typical symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough, or fever, but instead lost consciousness -- a less common sign of the virus.
In Cathy's statement the month prior, he revealed that Chick-fil-A abided by biblical values, which goes against a relationship between the same gender. In response, Hughley brought up another verse that he believes the company does not follow. He quipped:
"It's not that I don't love you; we both know that's not true. I know I'll never find another like you. But baby, we are growing in two different directions. I'm afraid I won't be able to see you anymore."
Recently, Hughley hit the news headlines after collapsing on stage for exhaustion. It was later revealed that the actor tested positive for the life-threatening coronavirus.
He elaborated on what had happened during his show at Zanies Comedy Club in Nashville and gave a health update that he had been asymptomatic in the previous days.
