Pink paid homage to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with her Halloween costume and showed that the holiday can be more than a Fright Night.

Most people create their Halloween costumes taking as inspiration the scariest monsters from their favorite horror movie, but Pink decided to do things a little differently this year.

The singer decided to honor the second woman ever appointed an associate justice of the Supreme Court, the recently deceased iconic Ruth Bader Ginsburg and created her Halloween costume accordingly.

THE JUDGE

Pink took the official portrait of Justice Ginsburg as inspiration for her own costume: a judge's robe festooned with a delicate lace collar, heavy, black-rimmed glasses, and her signature pair of elaborately carved jade earrings.

Like Judge Ginsburg, Pink has her hair pulled back severely, and she is wielding a gavel as she stands upright, facing the camera with a serious look on her face.

Ginsburg, who passed away in September 2020 at the age of 87, has been an inspiration for generations of men and women. Ginsburg had been serving as a judge since 1993 when she was nominated by President Bill Clinton until her death from cancer. Speaker Nancy Pelosi said:

“Justice Ginsburg embodied justice, brilliance and goodness, and her passing is an incalculable loss for our democracy."

At a time of so much uncertainty and generalized fear for the future, Pink chose to honor a woman who built her life on making decisions based on the belief that all men and women are equal before the law.

It's a wonderful message of hope, on a day most people choose to celebrate fear. Pink, as the mother of two children Willow, 9 and Jameson, 3, whom she shares with husband Carey Hart, clearly wants to believe in the hope exemplified by Ginsburg.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PINK

Pink celebrated her 41st birthday on September 8, just 10 days before Ginsburg passed away. On that occasion, her husband of 14 years paid his own homage to the love of his life. Hart wrote on an Instagram post:

"I've been w/ you for almost half of your life! It's been so amazing to watch you grow from a young hell-raiser, to the best mom to ever do it, role model, philanthropist, icon, and wife."

Pink has become something of an inspiration in her own right to millions of fans who have seen her help change the establishment's attitude towards artists like her, who defy labels and conventions.

There are probably dozens of little girls out there planning to dress up like Pink for their next Halloween, recreating those dramatic fashion statements, and we can't wait to see it.
