'House of Payne's' Demetria McKinney Sings Whitney Houston's 'Run to You' — See Her Rendition
Demetria McKinney recently shared a video of her rendition of Whitney Houston’s “Run to You.” The “House of Payne” actress has an amazing voice and was able to bring the song to life.
Demetria McKinney’s powerful voice raised goosebumps recently when she shared a snippet of herself belting out a classic song that left fans impressed with her talent.
The “Quad" actress started off her rendition by singing the lyrics to “Run to You” in a soft voice then steadily building up to some higher notes as she took on the first part of the chorus.

McKinney, 42, looked natural with a bare face and her curly hair tied up to give a full view of her youthful face. The stunning actress looked enchanting as she passionately looked through the camera.
In the video caption, McKinney asked her fans to name and finish the song lyrics in her comments section. Her fans were moved by the emotional rendition and responded with a combination of answers and compliments.
One fan commented, “You have such a beautiful voice,” and another added, “Your voice is amazing and Run to You is one of my favorite Whitney Houston songs.”
This rendition is just one of many Whitney Houston tributes that the adoring actress has done. In a 2017 interview with Vibe, the singer said that Houston’s music had saved her. She added:
“I've been molested, I've been homeless, I became a single mom at a young age, so there were a lot of down moments, and music, especially her music, got me through.”
The “Saints and Sinners” actress also had the privilege of portraying Houston in the movie “Bobbi Kristina” and has recreated some of the late Houston’s album covers for the film.
McKinney’s voice might come as a surprise to some who only know her for her work in film and theatre, but the actress only began acting as a requirement for her vocal scholarship.
The “Easy” singer’s dream to pursue her career in music was put on hold when her film career started to soar. With several movie and TV show roles, she couldn't find a way to add singing to her schedule.
In 2015, McKinney starred in the hit reality show, “Real Housewives of Atlanta” where she leveraged her appearance on the show to promote her music and subsequently her R’n’B ballad, “Trade it All” featured on the “Billboard” charts.
Two years later, she released the very successful single, “Easy.” Her long-awaited album, “Officially Yours” was released the same year.
McKinney described her debut album as an introduction to who “Demetria the singer” really is beyond the roles she has portrayed as an actress. She said:
“It's called Officially Yours because it is the most naked I can be musically.”
The “Dark ‘n’ Lovely” ambassador’s album featured the beautiful song, “Happy” which was accompanied by a music video that has more than 1.5 million views on YouTube to date.
