George Clooney's Wife Amal Jokes That Her & Meryl Streep Have Been Married to Her Husband

George Clooney’s wife, Amal Clooney’s award acceptance speech at the 2020 Gwen Ifill Press Freedom Award was on a light note as she teased star actress Meryl Streep about her unique relationship with her husband.

George Clooney’s wife, Amal Clooney was the recipient of the 2020 Gwen Ifill Press Freedom Award at the just concluded CPJ International Press Freedom Award show, and veteran actress Meryl Streep.

While giving her acceptance speech, Amal was quite good natured as she showed appreciation to star actress Meryl Streep, while honouring her achievement. Veering into a lighter note, Amal teased Streep by referring to her onscreen relationship with her husband.

Amal brought to mind the time George and Streep played Mr and Mrs Fantastic Fox in the blockbuster animation “Fantastic Mr Fox.” The awardee addressed Streep when she made reference to the amount of awards that the 71-years-old actress has won and then went futher to say:

"It does occur to me that we have something special in common, which is that we've both been married to my husband."

The human rights activist lawyer then concluded, noting that the fact that Streep and her husband acted together in the 2009 animation makes things less awkward. The “Ocean’s Eleven” star and Streep voiced the married Foxes in the film by Wes Anderson.

Some years ago, George was an awardee at the Britannia Awards ceremony where “Mamma Mia” star, Streep, described him in the most poetic words.

Four years after this, the star actor and Amal became an item. Ever since they met, Amal has become a source of joy for Clooney who once shared that after he met her, all his priorities were focused on her.

The star made it known that he did not think he would ever go down the marriage path, and even wrote-off the idea of having kids. However all that changed when he met the renowned barrister. The award-winning movie star shared that she was so important to him, that he could not let go.

Some years ago, George was an awardee at the Britannia Awards ceremony where “Mamma Mia” star, Streep, described him in the most poetic words. She wrote in the piece:

“George is like the dream boyfriend you have right out of college – sophisticated, older, knowledgeable about the ways of the world…”

Streep described a complete gentleman whose ways were pleasing, the star actress put a twist to it as she mentioned that George came across as the man who had the attention of many ladies, but so far, George has his eyes only his wife and their lovely kids.
