Ian Alexander Jr., 24, is the only child of actress and director Regina King, 49, with ex-husband Ian Alexander, Sr. The couple was married from 1997 to 2007 when they divorced. Regina has not remarried.

Ian Jr. took to his Instagram to share a couple of photos from his childhood. In it, he can be seen sitting on the edge of a pool hugging a little girl.

On the other side, his mother is also sitting by the pool. In the photograph, the Oscar winner appears in a full black bathing suit and smiles as she looks at her son. He wrote: "My joys"

These images are quite rare because Ian Jr. does not have the habit of posting photographs of his mother on his social networks. Taking a look at his photos shows that his passion is his music.

ACTRESS AND DIRECTOR

King began her acting career as a child on the popular '80s show "227" at just 14 years old. She thanks her mother Gloria for teaching her the balance between acting, fame, and real life. She also had a strong role model in Marla Gibbs.

Going from child actress to adult actress has not been easy for King, yet she has managed to achieve success and recognition. She now enjoys her new facet as the director of the film “One Night in Miami,” about fighter Cassius Clay (later Mohamed Ali).

TALKING THE TRUTH TO HER CHILD

Having and raising an African American child in the United States has not been an easy task for King. One of the hardest things she had ever done is to have conversations with her son about the dangers he faces.

Being a young African American has become somewhat more dangerous, as, in addition to dealing with problems such as drugs, gangs, and a lack of motivation, young people have to face increasing police brutality.

REAL LIFE SUPERMOM

Being an Oscar-winning and multi-Emmy-winning actress hasn't stopped King from being an excellent mother. This is what her son thinks too. On the red carpet at an awards ceremony on which he accompanied his mother, he did not hide his pride for her.

To her only son, she is a real-life superhero. He has commented that one of the best things about his mother is that she never allowed a bad day to prevent her from relating to her son or distancing herself. Ian Jr. says his mother has always been there for him.

INTRODUCING HER ONLY SON

Regina has been one of those celebrities who fiercely defend her private life and that of her family. Little information is available about her only son who was practically unknown since his mother is a very private person.

But this changed after the recent Golden Globe ceremony in which her son dressed in a tuxedo and accompanied his mother by the arm through the red carpet and throughout the celebration. There, Ian Jr. shone by speaking well of his mother.
